Hi everyone…

The installation of a model of Barr Creek bridge marks the completion of the last major bridge on the Columbia & Western, my rendition of the CPR’s Boundary subdivision.  The 8 bridges have taken a little under 2 years of time to complete and their completion marks a major milestone for me personally. In that time I have learned many new techniques, including practicing a lot of patience, and I have come to thoroughly appreciate the engineering and construction creativity and effort that went into these prototype bridges erected 100+ years ago in the mountains and valleys of South Eastern British Columbia.

To this end I have posted a Youtube video on the prototypes and models.  Warning: *don’t* watch this video unless you love model railroad bridges!

I hope those of you who do take the time to view the video enjoy it.

Have a great weekend!

Great video!

Love the video, Mark.  My Mom is from the Nelson area and I love how you capture the area.  Still hope to see you in the pages of MRH and on TMTV some day.

Thank you!

Peer encouragement has been a great motivator over the past 20 months to get those bridges done and installed...8 big ones and 7 smaller ones.  (and of course all those piers and abutments that always take more time then you think they will).

Wow!

Mark,

This is one of the best videos I've seen in a long time. Very informative and extremely interesting. The great narration along with the history of the line and bridges really makes the video entertaining. The walk up McCormack Creek to the bridge is very unique and certainly gives a different perspective on the area.

To build two or three bridges to the level of detail that you have would be an accomplishment, but to have built eight of them, in the short period of time you did, is remarkable. And while all of the bridges look great, the Farr Creek Bridge is something else. Absolutely incredible work!

I have followed your progress on the Columbia & Western here on the MRH Forum and on some of the other forums for some time now. It really is a spectacular layout- everything is just top notch. And I'll echo Dave's comments- I'd love to see more of the layout in MRH and on TrainMasters TV.

P.S. I enjoyed your article on TT&TO operation in the February issue of RMC.
