I have a spectrum F7AB set. got a great deal on ebay. these are  N scale models. problem is that i need 2 A units. is it possible to just change the B body shell out for an A unit shell?

Pull the shells off both

Pull the shells off both units and compare the frames. If they're the both same frame then yes you can do it.  Joe

And then try it....

And if the frames look the same, try putting the A shell on the B frame.

B frame

I did this some time back so I forget the mfg but I had to round off the B unit chassis.

And here I thought...

... that you were modeling the Haysi Railroad:

there's a prototype for almost anything

I never even heard of the haysi until now but that's a neat idea. I just looked a bachmann website and the frames appear the same. So I may just eat the ten bucks and buy the A shell. If a little minor modification is necessary then that'll be OK too
