So, the 2014 Walthers name train was a disappointment for me, so I’m looking forward to 2015.  This thread is for speculating what it will be.

How about a double though?  For the first time Walthers could release a “double name train”:  Panama Limited / City of New Orleans.

Look at what that would entail for Walthers:

For the Panama Limited

  1. Power:  They already have Proto 2K in E6A, E7A, E7B, E8A, and E8B livery for IC, so just rerun those.
  2. Baggage: Re-run the baggage car they already had
  3. Dorm car 15 crew – new car
  4. 6-6-4 sleeper:  they did these in 2003, run another batch (1942 consist for PL needs 6! Of these)
  5. 4-4-2 sleeper:  They are getting rid of the tag end of these now
  6. 3-1-1 lounge:  new car
  7. Diner:  Bring back that car for another run
  8. 2-2-1 observation:  new car

For the City of New Orleans

  1. Bring back the coach for another run
  2. RPO – Which is a basic RPO design, just in IC colors.

For those wanting later consists, the 10-6 sleepers Walthers has coming out now replace a couple of the 6-6-4s.  And also for later consists the City of New Orleans had dome-cars, which is a re-release.  (Domes were only on the PL for a couple of months, didn’t work out much.)

Domes worked best where there was scenery to look at

The trip from Chicago to Miami would have a large percentage of night travel. Hard to see the sights in the dark. I would support your IC trains. A lot of history there. Larry

So many trains, so little time,

Panama Limited

Went from Chicago to New Orleans, not Miami.  The City of Miami *DID* have a dome i later years.Panama Limited was the night train, City of New Orleans was the day train and did have domes later as well.

And possibly even go for the triple name train

Add 1 52 passenger coach and a different observation and you have the City of Miami.  And for that observation, I showed them where to find the car so they could go measure it!

Well, not too disappointed

Yesterday, i saw in the July flyer from Walthers a photo of the 2015 big book cover.  It featured a B&O passenger train on the cover.  Since the big book usually features the year's name train on the cover.....  I guess this time around they are going for B&O.

Only problem for me is I already have my 1 B&O passenger train done.  Do I really want to buy another?  Oh well, maybe they will do another of the missing IC cars I need as a 1 off.  (Down to only 3 cars, and I have substitutes fro them for now.)
