RGS Roundhouse Wall Molds Photos part II

Here are all the Molds I'll be using to cast my walls for my HOn3 Rio Grande Southern Roundhouse and I built 1 of the 6 interior Roof supports with scale lumber 12X12 up rights and 45 degree supports and 2X12 that will have nut and bolt castings added later as well as the 4X12's used for the base supports around each of the legs. Also The Base which will have the top of the pit area still to be cut out. see Photos below

The wood Frames are glued to wax paper which have my drawings under the wax paper. next step will be to finish the roof supports and poor the castings. After the walls are dry I'll paint the walls Brick red and lightly dry brush with some grimy black floquil to give the walls that used old brick look and then finally scribe all the grout lines into the walls which will take a little bit of time to make it look correct.

My understanding was that the correct brick color was not the usual red brick -- a kind of boxcar red color. From all the stuff I have read plus some Yahoo discussion some time ago on the RGS list from someone who visited Ridgway in 1960 before the rounhouse remains were demolished, the RGS got its brick from a clay pit north of Ridgway, maybe halfway to Montrose. The color is more of a reddish yellow ocher with some variations from more orange to a light brown.

Dan,
Really interesting! I'm looking forward to seeing the results and hearing about the process.

I actually have a piece of the brick from the roundhouse and it's a Brownish red with black and dirty yellow in lite streaks. My grandfather gave me it 20 years ago and I have it in a little box. Both of your descriptions are very helpful and the piece he gave me has some of the mortar which is a dull gray yet darker than normal cement. apparently the original two end walls and 5 stalls are a different color than the final 2 stalls and end wall that were used for the Galloping Goose fleet repair and construction they used brick that was much newer. thanks for the comments they do help in fact that's why I haven't pored the plaster yet I'm trying to get the colors correct or at least close to what it really looked like.
