Are there any mounting templates out there for mounting the grab irons on Bachmann GP7/9, RS-3, or S2/S4?

I've considered getting some of these locomotives but having to guess-the-grab placement is a bit of a deterent.

                               Thanks in advance, Skoti.

Template

Make yourself a template that can be placed against the side and just transfer the holes with a pointed tool. Then drill out the holes. Use a drawing in a magazine with your scale, I think you are HO right?, and copy that of the specific engine you want to put grab irons on.

BLMA Template

Hello Skoti

I use the BLMA template also, works fine for me....

Here is an example of my Bachmann based, private-owned Port Nicole GP 7, here the template was used to drill the holes. The grab-irons are also from BLMA. This engine was bought from the Canadian Pacific and entered my Port Nicole fleet as engine number 1. All decals are made on my own ALPS printer.

I use Esu decoders in all my locomotives, and it is one of the best runners now. Big advantage is also that I copy all the CV's from one engine to other Bachmann locomotives. As long as they have the same construction (practically all Bachmanns are the same) you have excellent conditions having trains in multiple traction. Even when one of the engines is on the back of the train pushing. No derailments ore other problems....it's great to see the trains running like that.
