Nice photos and fine looking Mountians

How large is this Railroad seeing that it's "S" scale that lake must be pretty large too. The 2 engines shown, are they Scratch built , Kits or RTR? "S" scale has come along way since I had my American flyer set up. If I ever change from "HO" scale I think "S" scale will be my choice, I'll still build Narrow Gauge just because I like the looks of the smaller steam cuffing up a steep grade over and around towering trees and cliffs.

Now since the first day of MRH and watching all the Modelers and their Diesel builds and films of their operations I've come to like the Diesels more but, I still prefer the old Steamers.

R-T-R

Hi Dan,

The layout is 29' X 45' and the two SD units are R-T-R. The SD-60 is a current American Models product which I bought undecorated and painted & lettered it for my own railroad. The SD-40-2  trailing is a brass import from Overland when they took a stab at S back in the 80's. I tried to make the lake typical of the man-made lakes that populate PA State Parks. I used Envirotex over a base painted with acrylics. There's a lot of stuff available in Sn3 for the Colorado NG roads. My Sn3 is for the EBT because I model PA. Hope that answers your questions and thanks for your interest.

Thanks Roy Great RR

Would really like to see more photos of your RR as big as it is I'll bet you have some great scenes and structures. very nice man made lake looks very much like alot of the man made lakes for the cattle here in Virginia as well as the many parks and their lakes found here. You need to add some fishermen along the Dam, a few kids playing hooky at the lake on a sunny spring day.

Great Idea

I should put some kids or hikers in the park area plus I need to install a spillway for the dam.

BTW, the DNCR doesn't permit fishing from the dams

I'm probably missing something obvious, but

what does "DNCR" stand for?

Correction

Sorry, I juxtaposed two letters.

It's DCNR standing for the PA Dept. of Conservation and National Resources.

DCNR in Virgina meens

It's posted on rivers as Don't Cross Near Rapids use Bridge Just kidding. I never could understand why they post that on Lakes when you know it's full of big fish yet they don't want you catching any. Then they post the No fishing from RR bridges when they have a nice 4ft X 4ft landing with no fire barrel on it, it's just perfect for fishing. What are they afraid you'll catch a Shark nose and take it home?

S-Trains list

Bruce,

It was probably the yahoo S-Trains list. I belong to 5 S-related yahoo lists including that one.
