Art - A friendly suggestion

A few years ago I bought an AMBICO tripod from Circuit City when they were still in business and it costs less than $30. I notice in some other threads that some readers have been suggesting you get a tripod for your video shots.

I just found one almost identical you may want to look at on the Amazon web site - $23.49:

I hope that will benefit you, if you can get one. They weigh only 3 pounds and have a carry bag and convenient handle. Not the most solid, but it may help.

FYI: Tripods are Rude on Layout tours and Operating Sessions

FYI---MRH sucks!!!!  I hate the fact that it logs you out during the middle of posting,  Joe you need to fix this!!!  If MRH logs you out hold the post in a que and give the person a chance to log back in.  Just do not delete everything.

Any way you do not bring a Tripod to a Operating session or Layout tour.  Tripods get in the way block aisle and interfere with other peoples experience.  And 2nd it is rude to set up a camera shot at this type of event.  Come back on another day with a tripod.  If not stick to hand held and not interfere with the other guest.

2nd if you use a iPhone turn the dam thing to horizontal!!!  Vertical videos Suck.  Why can people not figure this one out.

Yes, Art needs to learn better camera skills production techniques.  But for what he is doing the classic man on the street reporter he is perfect.  Get in, Get the news then get out with out making or being part of the news.

Most modern shows and movies have gone off the tripod and lockdown and are doing the hand held thing and shoulder mounts.

Your refinery structure is not out of scale in the slightest, it just needs another round of piping, catwalks and such.  Most HO industries available right now are underscaled and undersized in comparison to what they are supposed to resemble.

 There's an old Ulrich semi tractor in the junkyard, on the end of the line of old trucks...how much for it?

Train speed, 150 MPH?  So I ran some numbers, using the stack at a datum and the time it takes for a car to move past that datum, I got about 100 feet per second.  That scales out to ...would you believe that is only around a scale 70 miles per hour?
