I'm leaning towards using the bulfrogs and need some advice. First of all they power the frog and are not sticking out the side of the track like caboose manual turnout controls. The only issue I have is my layout consists of 2' foam on framing. The bottom of the layout is foam, not sure how I would mount these. Anyone have some good pictures or instructions on how to do this?

No problem

No problem ... but this is often a good thing to do when you have a question - with over 5 years of posting history on here, there's quite a knowledgebase that's been built up.

Not all questions will have been covered already, but a number will have been discussed to some degree.

"like caboose manual turnout controls"

Yeah the bullfrogs power the frogs and are hidden but you still need to add something sticking out the side of the track to represent a switch stand or ground throw so nothing is free in model railroading :> )  As an alternative look at Blue point controllers, they are a plastic version of bullfrogs and come ready to use.....DaveB

A more expensive alternative

I'm using the Tam Valley "Singlets" with the included servo which I'm top mounting in my 2" foam.  I'll mount the Singlet control panels on my fascia once installed.  You can get an optional module that works with them to power the frogs.  Here's a picture of the installation:

Bullfrog

A member of ours uses the Bullfrogs and has had issues. The Bullfrogs have been changing or getting out of alignment with changes with humidity. The Bullfrogs are wood and absorb moisture. I do not know if he has tried to paint them before assembly and see if it helps.

Wood and adjustments...

You should paint them. Wood itself will change with seasons, even thin plywood will move a bit. If you want a quick coating, paint them before hand with paint or shellac. Then sand lightly and assemble.

I can also speak from experence with Blue Points and think highly of them. I plan to use them for any turnouts I can't reach easily.
