Version 4.3 is now available and still FREE !

A-Track runs on any Windows desktop or notebook to complement and expand the capabilities of your NCE Power Cab or Power Pro DCC system, and to assist you in running your roster of locomotives on your model railroad.

A-Track allows you to store full details of all of your locomotives and of any stationary (turnout) decoders, with all of their DCC configuration parameters, in a readily-accessible format on a personal computer – but without requiring you to be any kind of computer expert. A-Track’s back-up copy of all of the data held within each DCC decoder fitted in the locomotives which make up your roster, or to the turnouts on your layout, safeguards all the hours of effort put in by you (or your Club’s DCC expert) in programming and configuration.

New Features in A-Track Version 4.3

Range of Decoder Manufacturers expanded - Digitrax, NCE, Lenz, SoundTraxx, QSI (Quantum), ESU (LokSound), Train Control Systems (TCS), Broadway Limited (Paragon 2), Model Rectifier, Bachmann, Hornby, and ZTC

Full support for programming and control of Accessory Decoders from all manufacturers

Complete Macro facility - create, edit, review, and run Macros direct from the screen with either Power Cab or Power Pro systems

Define and use up to 256 Macros with your Power Cab - just like a Power Pro system

Expanded and improved Tutorial to get you started - with all A-Track features fully-documented through a context-sensitive on-screen Help facility - just press the F1 key whenever you need assistance

For existing users, you can now start A-Track, or change the Item List being displayed, simply by a double-click on any of your saved Item Lists

Improvements have also been made in several areas, including the use of on-screen 'soft controllers' for both locomotives and accessories, in the generation of speed tables, and in programming decoders, to make operation smoother and more reliable.

All of the A-Track documentation has been updated to cover the new program features. The new Reference Manual describes the details of every feature, but is now a rather large document, so an abridged version covering the main functions is now available as the User Guide, which includes the revised Quick Start tutorial. Separate documents are available with instructions on installing USB-to-Serial adapter drivers and on installing A-Track itself.

Further details from http://www.a-train-systems.co.uk/atrack.htm, with download options described at  http://www.a-train-systems.co.uk/getatrack.htm

Download your copy and give it a try !

After downloading the appropriate files from the Downloads page at http://www.a-train-systems.co.uk/download.htm, uninstall any current version of A-Track that you have on your computer before installing the new version.

All of your previous program settings, including registration details, will be preserved so that you can continue your operations without interruption.

Interesting

Other than specific macro capability for Power Cab models, what does this offer over JMRI?  JMRI  supports virtually all decoders and systems(other than MRC Prodigy).  Has anyone have any experience with this software package?

With support limited to Windows, and only to NCE systems - I think they have themselves limited to a rather small audience....

interesting

I have the power cab and might have to check this out. Of course after some more reading about it. Technology and I are like oil and water.

It’s not a competition . . .

A-Track is simply available as an alternative to JMRI’s software for owners of NCE DCC systems. As in all aspects of model railroading, there are lots of different ways of achieving the same results, using similar products from a range of sources – be it laying track or constructing scenery, for example.

It doesn’t cost you anything (apart from a little time) to try A-Track – and you might even like it! But, at the end of the day, like all other tools or techniques, your choice of computer software to assist in your model railroading activities is just down to personal preferences.
