Looks great!

It's a thrill to be part of what will surely become a great series! Barry has done a fantastic job a producing a professional quality show.  Well worth every cent and I can't wait to watch the upcoming episodes. If there were programs like this still on TV today I might consider owning one.

It's a shame about that hair, it really was a bad hair day (for what is left of it...lol)

Joe - a suggestion

I noticed on your intro video on Trainmasters that the audio was a little muffled like it was captured using the camera mic instead of a lapel or boom mic.  It's a small thing, but noticeable to some of us.  That said, I love Trainmasters TV!

Intro

Hey, Rick.

I checked every clip in the intro to the show and noted that everyone is wearing a lav mic.  Everyone sounded bright and clear to me.

Then I finally realized you were probably referring to Joe's intro video to the TrainMasters TV website:  http://www.trainmasters.tv/videos/trainmasters-tv-grand-opening

Good audio isn't noticeable to most people.  But poor audio is noticeable to just about everyone.  In fact, most people will watch a bad picture if the audio is clear, but rarely the other way around.  In this case Joe was his own cast and crew so I forgive him.

No camera mike

I NEVER use the camera mike, I use a high quality separate mike or a headset mike. That said, I got too much reverb and tried to remove it in post processing since I ran out of time for reshooting.

I'm very aware of audio issues and I feely admit my grand opening rush job came up a little short. I need to give myself more time for reshooting and do some clip playback testing - all things I know and should plan ahead more. Trying to do too much at the last minute ...

Depends on which audio clip you mean - the clips at the end with the ribbon cutting ceremony deliberately had processing added to make it sound like a bad outdoor mike, and I also added reverb to make it sound outdoors.

Thanks, guys for the explanation

Leave it to SOMEONE to pull on a loose thread when they see one! I just noticed in that one video that it wasn't the high quality like the others, but no big deal. I'm very impressed with the quality of Trainmasters TV!

Anybody else

experiencing really slooooooow load times?  I'm watching the Tim Warris video and I'm now at 10:44 on the time with about 45 minutes of actual time.  The alternate player seems just as slow.  Its kind of unwatchable in this state.  I just tried a YouTube video to test the internet connection's capability, and I just watched more than 5 minutes without it pausing a single time.  This is using Chrome on Win8.

Like it so far!

I like it very much so far.  Can't wait for next week's installment.

One question I have on the DVD series, is there a way you can have a setting where I can click on the first video of Joe's DVD series (Episode 1.1) and have it automatically advance to the next Episode?  Not sure how complicated that would be. As I mentioned before, when it comes to "existing" content, I typically play it in the background while I am working on something else.  It's convenient to just come to the computer and click on the video, than go over to the DVD player and TV, insert the DVD, press play, etc.  But it's slightly annoying having to go back to the web page to select the next episode.  Just a thought, FWIW.

Okay, fixed the audio

Okay, I fixed the audio on the Grand Opening video ... I used a trick Barry probably knows about called "looping" to re-record the audio on my intro.

It bothered me that the audio wasn't better since I don't want TMTV to ever have slapped-together video. Barry's absolutely right that pro videographers know poor audio will make a video stand out quicker than poor video will.

So I think the redone audio on the Grand Opening video is finally something I'm pleased with.

Joe - You Rock!

I never expected you to fix the video, but now it sounds great! I'll have to learn that trick from Barry about "looping" Well done and thanks!

Is there any way to stay signed on?

It would be nice if TMTV could remember you've signed on without having to do so every time you go there...

Playing it on a TV

To be able to play TMTV on a TV you have to have an internet connection to either a TV that is "internet ready" or a device connected to you TV (like a game box) that is internet ready. I have an LG "G2" TV where I choose my Google selection. This brings up an internet browser (in my case Google Chrome) where I browse to TMTV to play the videos on my 55" TV.

You might be able to connect your computer to the TV as well

If your TV has an HDMI connection, along with audio inputs, and your computer has a secondary video output and a sound card, you can use an VGA-HDMI adapter and run the appropriate type cables from your computer to your TV.  I have this set up on m own system so I can watch Curling from TSN.CA which allows US users to watch recorded games such as the Tournament of Hearts and The Brier on my TV rather than on my computer monitor.

Also AppleTv

If you have an Apple Computer, iPad or iPhone, you can also stream to your TV with an AppleTv device.

TV as computer monitor

I have a 32" LCD tv that I use as my monitor, super simple and I really like the fact that the monitor is only 3" deep not 18".

Wife has no interest in train videos so it works out perfect for us.

Using an WiFI enabled iPad to connect directly to your TV

You can get an Apple HDMI cable to connect your WiFi enabled iPad to the TV directly.  These are around $40 (from Walmart). What ever is playing/viewing on the iPad is displayed on your TV.

We watch Netflix this way, as only the iPad allows us to watch US. Canadian and UK (Mexico, Brazil, Sweden..) Netflix streams.  Most of the TV set top boxes out there have been "updated" to block this feature....(including our LG set top box...)  The picture quality is excellent.

Act II has now been posted

Okay, the next weekly installment has been posted, Act II as we call it.

See: TrainMasters.TV

Act IIa is the Backshop Clinic where host Clark Kooning asks our guest what's in his toolbox, and then we have Act IIb, which is a visit to Tom Patterson's Appalachian layout - here's a preview of that segment:

LOGO

Instead of repeating everyone else, I'd like to comment on the Trainmaster's logo. To me, it's one of the best rail-involved logos I've seen. Truly well done.

I was curious about the addition of the "keystone" - someone have a like for Pennsylvania, or does it have another reference?  (Not a complaint - just curious)

You should enter it in a few contests for logos/advertising/marketing.  It has all the qualities of a true classic.

The TrainMasters TV logo

Thanks for the compliment!

I think I will write a blog posting sometime this week that will address the logo and its creation.  Thanks for the inspiration.
