Hi,

Can someone, anyone, explain exactly WHAT is being searched using the search box on the upper right of the MRH webpage? I have tried using it to find subjects of posts and authors of posts to no avail. This renders it nearly useless to me. But it does beg the question what IS being searched?

I believe the search function

I believe the search function only finds your search request within the contents of a blog or topic etc.

Have a look at the descriptions for the "advanced search" feature. It only refers to contents.

EG: There is no search feature to list a users posts or titles.

I've not found any.

Not exactly

Hi Alex,

Thanks for your comments, but that doesn't quite track with my search tries. From the opening page of recent posts, with none selected, it gives what seems to be a random, and incomplete set of "hits" which at face value make no sense. Yes, keywords are found, but it seems never from a title of anything. My conclusion is that something, somewhere is set wrong, or somebody limited its search capability for some reason.

Best regards,

Geoff Bunza

It couldn't find

"Search Box on the Upper Right?" when I typed it in and hit search. Seems like that would be one of the first things a working search brings up? ........DaveB

In April this year

Much was discussed in the following thread:

https://forum.mrhmag.com/post/search-engine-working-12193119

Understanding of the problem is best supplied from the last few comments posted to this thread. An upgrade of the MRH forum site to Drupal version 7 may help much - see Joe Fugate's comments in the above referenced thread. Very recent items in this forum may not be found due to a very simple fact: the search function index may not have been refreshed since the post was made.

I recommend that, if the MRH forum search (the upper right box) does not find what one is looking for, then try Google as Joe recommends in the above referenced thread.

I hope my comment here has helped you.

Previous Thread

Thanks Bill. I had found the previous discussion, which is why I asked the question the way I did: "What is being searched?"

I think a better idea is to eliminate the so called search box until such time it is fixed to do something useful, and merely provide a formatted link off page to google, as has been suggested.

MRH Search

This search function serves me no useful purpose either.

I am trying to find an older post that I made related to the Power Pax booster.

I tried the subject of the posting, I get results but not my posting.

I tried searching my name, "No Results".

I tried searching my Screen Name and get results but still not the post relating to the Power Pax.

Search results appear to be hit and miss at best or is there a time limit on how far back the search is conducted? I have been a member less than one year at this point.

MRH Search

But that has nothing to do with the functioning of the "MRH Search" function at the top right of the page.

No argument there, but did my post help you find what you were looking for?

Glad to see I'm not the only one...

that finds it almost useless.....And not working as it should. I do 99% of my MRH on my iPad. Doesn't work, Joe has no idea why, it does work for others. On my iMac, it works fine. But again, I can't use it on my iPad.

Ken

It does work much better, but it does not work well with every device.
