Hello everyone

I have purchased a NCE Powercab v1.65 and a CAB06.

I have connected them correctly to the PCP, however the CAB06 will not run with the Powercab v1.65.... it turns on, however the little light above the F(faward) or R(reverse) never comes on..

The CAB06 will run on the older version of the Powercab PRE- v1.65

The cab addresses different on the Powercab and CAB06.
The Wiring to the PCP is correct.
The wiring to the track is correct.
NCE decoders in all of my locomotives.

I have contacted NCE themselves but i don't think they understand my issue.

any ideas would be appreciated.

Kind regards

Nick.

Dear Nick, 1 - OK, the

Dear Nick,

1 - OK, the CAB06 address is different, but what address is it actually set to? Remember that PowerCabs only play with additional cab addresses 3 and 4 (and unofficially 5).

2 - Is it a CAB06p or e variant? If e version, what is the position of the Throttle Selection switch?
(remember that "e" variants are effectively 2x throttles in one box, both with it's own unique cab addresses. Wouldn't be the first time I've been running the "LH cab" on my CAB04e on address 4, accidentally flipped to the "RH cab" on address> 5, and suddenly had "no response" from the CAB04e).

3 - Have you tried a different curly throttle cable?

If you're needing more specific info, check in with the NCE fans on the NCE-DCC yahoogroup

There have been some recent questions RE Cab06 throttles and FW-upgraded PowerCabs, but AFAIK all have been traced to bad cables or connectors...
(NB that as far as diagnosing this issue, track wiring and loco/decoder wiring are red herrings. The critical bits are the Powercab and Cab06 RJ wiring, the cables, the PCP, and the cables. Additional Q, which is connected first, the Powercab or the Cab06?)

Thanks for the reply Prof.

1. The CAB06 is set to 03 (standard) - and to add i have also tried with a different address.
and the Powercab is set to 2... I tried setting it to 4 once as well.

2. It is the CAB06p.

3. I have tried different curly cable, and different PCP, all parts where replaced from where i purchased it from, the main theme we could come up with was the version of the Powercab was 1.65 and the pre 1.65 worked.

I have also made sure i connect the Powercab first, then connect the CAB06p... i have also tried turning the system off and on again.

I have tried resetting the system also.

Different locomotives didn't make a different

I appreciate the help

Kind regards
Model on..

Nick.

It has been discussed that their was an issue with some of the new 1.65 eproms. Would suggest calling NCE and talk with Larry.
