How about some before and after pictures of your guys layouts, rolling stock, and locomotive builds.

I was looking at pictures of some of the buildings and rolling stock I built for the layout. This is a before and after shot of my Basic Oxygen Furnace.

An older project

Nice transformations guys.  It's always cool to see what people create.

Here's one...started with an Atlas 53' plug door.

After lots of trial and error I came up with this:

Prototype:  http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=1990543

Proto:  http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=1578361

Not my best, but still one of my favorites.  If I were to do it all over again I'd do a lot of things differently, but learning and improving is all part of the fun.

Here is a Before and After

This is an old thread, but Im sure this thread can get a lot more mileage , It would be good to see more Before and After shots from some of the talented modelers out there

Kevin, I have seen that boxcar in the background of some of your stunning Diorama shots, always wanted to see what it started out like, It is an AMAZING transformation

Here is a Roundhouse boxcar I weathered

A fun topic.

   I like the idea of showing how to transform a scene or rolling stock.  Here's a Lionel O boxcar I turned into an S car.......DaveB

@DaveB

Wow!  What a difference a pair of trucks make to bring a new sense of proportion to a model!  Between the trucks and the door, this becomes much more believable as an S scale Hi-Cube, than an O scale car.

Hi Alan, yeah it's interesting to look for scale cars hiding in a toy train car. I did a green BN hycube too as well as a Lionel 0-27 Republic Steel gondola.  They don't represent any prototype but look plausible in a train....DaveB

Wow!  Super impressive work Dave! Besides the new trucks and great weathering, the couplers are a nice improvement.

Nice module Dave. The track is very realistic. Any tighter shots of the track?
