Has anyone recently installed a NWSL idler gearbox and if so, did they encounter any  issues with the gearbox not holding the worm and idler in proper mesh? If so what was the solution? NWSL tells me that this problem is "common" and to back off the screws to find the "sweet spot". Non existent as far as I can tell.   .

 you installation might help.

My only experience with NWSL worm and worm gear was some installations using the MDC idler gear arraignment. MDC/Roundhouse uses a compound gear arraignment on their locos.

I installed the motor using bath caulk and adjusted the motor for minimum backlash between the worn and worm gear on the idler shaft. Not a gear box.
