Sergent now has Shelf Couplers

JeffShultz's picture

For those of you who have been waiting (like me) for Sergent Engineering to come out with shelf-style couplers, the wait is over.

Sergent has just introduced Type E lower shelf and type SE double-shelf couplers. They're also showing a prototype of what appear to be aTightlock coupler (I am not a coupler expert). The E and SE's are currently available only assembled but it sounds like kits are on the way.

Type SE (Compatible shank $13 2/pair, Narrow shank $17 2/pair):

Type E (Compatible shank $10 2/pair, Narrow shank $14 2/pair):

Tightlocks?:

And no, I'm not getting paid (or even free couplers, nope) to post this - I'm just happy because now I can outfit my tank car fleet!

I'm ecstatic as well Jeff! I

I'm ecstatic as well Jeff! I plan to order at least one pack each here in a few days.

4 packs of SE, 3 packs of "normal" kits....

... hopefully they are in the mail now. I've got 6 tank cars and I ordered 8 sets of SE couplers. The other two sets will be evaluated on a pair of centerbeam flatcars that tend to come uncoupled on one of my vertical transitions.

Tight locks

Are those tight locks production or is that a pic of prototypes they are working on?

I belive they are a picture of the prototype.

Thanks

I read Jeff's post, but got so interested in the pictures that I forgot to notice that he referred to the "tight locks" as probable prototypes.  I need to learn to read the words even when the pics are more interesting!

No Problem!

Hey Russ,

I do the same thing all the time, no worries!  Glad to help.
