June 11, 2013, Milwaukee, WI. - Beginning in October, Walthers will roll out its latest HO Scale name train, the San Francisco Chief. Based on Santa Fe’s last new streamliner introduced in 1954, the complete train features seven all-new cars (including the signature “Big Domes” several sleepers, a 74' baggage car and lunch counter diner dormitory), correct Santa Fe coaches and sleepers, plus a limited-run of 37-Class passenger F units with new details, all part of the superbly detailed WalthersProto ® family of products. Cars will feature Walthers exclusive real metal finish simulating stainless steel as appropriate, which matches current Super Chief and El Capitan cars, opening new possibilities for modeling authentic Santa Fe passenger consists. For the most demanding modeler and collector, a limited-run 12-car Deluxe Edition train with factory-installed LED interior lighting and 200+ Preiser figures will also be available at participating hobby shops and walthers.com.
