To All: Today I feature some weathering projects. Photo #1--Seaboard Air Line #25199 received an over all grimy appearance by the use of diluted rail brown. I find that silver paint schemes are the worst for hiding decal edges. Oh well, at 3 feet the car will pass. Later I will add a Tichy roof walk, wire stirrup steps, brake rigging and #58 Kadee couplers. Photo #2--The SAL "Silver Star" paint scheme was relatively rare. Again an over all grimy appearance was tried. Detailing needs to be done. Photo #3--This Florida Southern Boxcar is a "What If" car. No actual prototype existed for this car at mid 20th Century. I applied a light coat of rail brown to this car. Later I will add wire stirrup steps and other details. Photo #4--NdeM RR 40 foot boxcar received an over all grimy appearance using rail brown. This weathering is per a prototype photograph. Later I will detail this car with wire stirrup steps, coupler cut bars, brake rigging and #58 Kadee couplers. Photo#5--Arcade & Attica 40 foot boxcar received "salt" weathering by the doors and on the trucks and a light coat of rail brown weathering. Details to be added later. Photo #6 & 7--The Birmingham Terminal RR is a recently created prototype short line. This is a "What If" car. I couldn't resist their awesome herald and logo, so I copied them and reduce their size. The car received an over all grimy appearance with the use of rail brown and the use of grimy black on the refrigeration grill area. Details to be added later. Photo #8--This Overland Western Lines "Route of the Nightowl" 40 foot boxcar received a light coating of rail brown. This car is an offering by the Overland Western Lines Model RR Club. I have a number of their cars of various types. Yours, Elvin Howland/E. St. Louis Rail Group Layout
