Does anyone have any suggestions on how to model the pole pockets that would be found at the corners of so many older locomotives and freight cars?  At least two, if not more, of my planned locomotives will need them:  The HOn30 Class A Climax that's almost done, and the HO scale model of Atlantic Shore Lines's wooden steeplecab electric.

Thanks!

Here's how I do it

My favorite method is to drill a little dimple in the corner of the end beam (on a rounded corner), and/or if needed to add a piece of styrene tube which I then drill out until it is shaped like a dish.  That's how I made these:

Pole pocket

Similar method, I took a sprue of the approximate diameter and drilled a dimple in the end. Then cut it and sanded it to the length I wanted and glued it into position.
