Rogue River club in Medford, OR

I took this photo at the Rogue River club in Medford, OR last spring.

ilroad-1.jpg

One of the things I love about this club is they've captured the Oregon look superbly. This town scene feels so typical "Western Oregon lumber town". A superb club layout that we hope to feature in MRH one of these days soon ...

By the way, this is an iPhone photo. Love that phone - it's a great jack-of-all-trades device!

Matthews Freight Yard - but a memory

Sorry about recycling, but you have to go with what you have (or had).  Here's a photo taken by my good friend and fellow modeler, Bob Wheeler of my freight yard after he added his 3 CN gons.  It's one of my favorite shots.

Pintsch gas wagon

Pintsch gas was used to light railway carriages and stations in the early 1900s. This is an N scale scratchbuilt model of a dilapidated wagon long out of service on the Victorian Railways (Australia) now rusting away in a weed covered yard in Melbourne.

A few new details

I recently added some new details to the small truck dump tipple at Big Chimney. Some boards were added to the ramp, more coal and coal dust was added around the tipple and the ramp, and a small office was added to the scene.

Sonoran Desert scenery

Great work already posted and the weekend has just begun, thanks Joe for kicking off this thread!

I recently took the lid from a peanut butter jar, turned it over, and used it to create a small 1:48 vignette of typical Sonoran Desert scenery:

The lid was painted black, then filled with spackling compound (a plaster-like compound purchased ready to use). I then inserted some rocks, plants, and added ground cover. The plants are (from the front in clockwise sequence) a prickly pear cactus, yucca, ocotillo, century plant and saguaro cactus.

I wish I could photograph my layout in natural light! It adds so much realism. I owe fellow O scale modeler and Arizona On30 Desperado Travis Hartschung a tip of my hat for the vignette idea, which inspired me to make one for my desk at work.

I have posted more photos of modeling the desert on my blog here, check it out if you are interested.

Okay, not a finished product,

Okay, not a finished product, but a start.  Finally glued down the spur that will service two industries (don't know what they will be yet) on the 8' module.  The structures are not finished.  The structure on the left is a Walther's commissary and Engineering office that has been "rearranged".

The Railbox boxcar is one that I use to practice everything on.  I have a few of those.  You should too.

Pictures were taken using my Droid!

11 PM on Hammerjacks

IT'S 11 PM AND THE RECORD STORE HAS BEEN CLOSED FOR A FEW HOURS. BUT RONNY'S IS STILL OPEN SO YOU CAN HOCK YOUR GRANDFATHER'S WATCH AND SLIP NEXT DOOR TO BUY A 40 OF MALT LIQUOR AND SOME SCRATCH OFFS FROM MURPH. MAYBE THIS TIME YOU'LL GET LUCKY AND WIN ENOUGH FOR THE RENT. JUST DOWN THE STREET ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE GLOW OF THE STREET LAMP IS THE CONRAIL MAIN TO THE LOCUST POINT YARD. BUT THE TRAINS DON'T RUN LIKE THEY USED TO. NOT SINCE ALL THE FACTORIES STARTED CLOSING. AMERICAN CAN, ATLANTIC BROOM, CONTINENTAL CAN, AMERICAN STANDARD... EVEN BETHLEHEM STEEL OUT ON SPARROWS POINT IS CUTTING BACK...

DEPRESSED YET? I KNOW I AM.

HO Crane Project

I'm just about to begin weathering my Walthers HO crane. The cab body has been sun weathered using a mix of waterbased gouache. Now the fun begins!

Love the postcard look

Giovanni I like the old post card appearance to your picture. That and I love those type of concrete bridges. I've been doing some experimentation with lighting and night shots. Below is one example, I have a couple more on my blog:

I didn't see this thread

I didn't see this thread because I always found WPF in the Modelling General Discussion in weeks past.  Oh well...here is a new photo, the first new model image from me in two years.  It's on a new layout I am building.
