About a month ago my family went to see some friends out of state which left me with a good week to be able to make some good progress.  Since then I have been consistently working towards getting trains running.  The following will be a brief description of what I have done:

Industry:

I printed out the card stock model of the industry.

I found that scribing on the outside point of a bend was the only way for me to get a clean bend with out the paper ripping.

I cut out windows and doors and layered them either on top or behind the main wall structure.  This will provide a relief to break up the smoothness along the walls.

I used an extra layer for the interior doors and windows to provide extra depth.  I really like the depth that the layering provides.

I used various colors of markers to eliminate any white edges.

On a sample card stock model, I tried using super glue and found that it was really hard to work with and gave poor results.  I tried using simple Elmer's white glue and found this to work quite well.  It was tacky enough that I did need to hold it too long for it to hold.

I am waiting to finish this build because the structure needs to fit up against the back of the layout.  I will need to get my track down so I know how much to cut off the back.

Track Work:

Nothing to exciting here.  I laid out the cork road bed, built an additional turnout, and painted with some Home Depot mis-tints to get rid of the blue.

I am using a trailer hitch wiring harness for the power buss.  I think this should be an easy way to be able to connect the  Digitrax DCS50.

I have soldered up a lot of the leads I will need.  I am going to try out the  Caboose Industry powered ground throws.  I'll add some more pics on a future update.

I feel like I am making some real progress and hopefully I will have trains running soon.

Thanks for looking and any comments are welcome.

Printed Structures

I have downloaded some of the printed structures and was wondering how they would work out. Thanks for posting.
