Folks.

I'm starting this blog for Quintin.  Everything you'll see here is his work.  I'm hoping he'll take over and add more commentary.  Quintin models the Marion and Indiana Northern which is a part of the INRAIL system made up of  Quintin's M&IN, my L&IN, and the Fulton County Railroad.   He models a one town layout complete with engine facilities, an inbound and outbound yard, lots of switching, and hidden staging.  He enjoys lots of switching much like I enjoy the simplicity of a very rural laid back short line.   We all have our own likes in this hobby and they are ALL good.  Listen to yourself and model what YOU like.  :o)  I'm just going to post a few photos he sent for now.

The Indiana Industrial RS27 belongs to Anton Smolka.  The Indiana Industrial is the name of Anton's railroad.  Quintin detailed and painted the loco at the M&IN shops.

The elevator is abandoned and grown over with trees.  We have a prototype of this very scene here in Indiana I believe in San Pierre, Indiana.

The rest of the photos are from random locations on Quintin's railroad.

Quintin's layout

I live but ten minutes from Quintin and have visited his layout many times. Q, as we call him, is a really good modeler and has what I see as a great model railroad. He is a great model photographer too, so I hope Q will join in and share his modeling here on MRH. Jim Six Millersburg IN

Very Nice!

Great looking layout, Quintin, and thanks to Tom J. for sharing the pictures. And I'll second Kevin's comment about the system you guys have developed. Looks like a lot of fun.

Maybe there is something in the corn up around Northern Indiana...

Great work!!

Tom, thanks for a look at Quintin's layout.  I am sure it is as yours is, pictures just don't do it justice.  I will call next week to see if we can set up a time to see Quintin's layout per our conversation in March.  Thanks again Tom.  Dan Groninger

Impressive

Really Great detailing. Is the Co-Op building a photo backdrop or a real model structure? I to am a model roader not too far from you (Warsaw). gahoffert@yahoo.com

That's an awesome layout! I love how your layouts are "connected." By that I mean very similar prototypes. I bet it is fun to simulate operations between the two railroads.

Thanks Tom for posting some

Thanks Tom for posting some pictures of Q's layout.  Quintins, Jim Sixs, and yours are Insparation to me. Now I just have to get off this silly PC and get in the basement and do something!        Kevin B  Ft.Wayne

Good to See Some M&IN!

I'm glad to see Quintin's work on here, too!  Nothing like some INRAIL stuff from both sides of the system to get me motivated to build something!

Great layout

Looking very good, and I think there is a lot to learn, thanks for sharing!

Like the video's and the clear explanations. That has worked as a real eye opener for me! Thankx

Love it!

Especially the shot with the ex-Rock Island Geep - I sorely wish I grabbed the four P2K RI numbers back when they were available, having memories of them running around the GTW back in the early '80s.

I think there are advantages to modeling your own RR company - if I ever tire of modeling the UP in former C&NW territory I think I'll just patch out all my UP, CNW and BN power and letter everything for the DM&M - a shortline/regional taken from my initials.

Thanks for sharing.

Really enjoyed this

This is some really nice work. Please pass along my tanks for allowing this to be shared. I particularly liked the freelanced locomotive designs.

Cheers,

M&IN

Very nice. Definitely captures the look of rural Indiana. The theme of interconnected shortlines reminds me of the efforts of Vane Jones' son to become a shortline operator in the late 1970s/1980s.

Quintin Schini's M&IN Railroad

Wow, I had to look twice. I thought it was the real thing. Congratulations a really fine example of master modelling with a great attention to detail.  Well done from Bob in Australia.

Quintin says THANKS!!!! :O)

Folks.

Quintin wanted me to relay to all of you that he says thanks to all of the kind comments about his railroad.  I can say that Q is excited about the responses.  He's not much into this sort of thing but he does enjoy sharing with others.

Anyway, his problem is logging in.  He's having issues with that so he can post photos and responses himself.  I think he forgot a password or user name.  Not sure.  This info is at his work.  So, I'll post a few more for him.  I won't say much about them.  Just enjoy.  Q will be on soon.  Tom for Quintin Schini or "Q" as we call him.

You never know what will show up at the shops of the M&IN.  Many are early purchases like the Alco's.  Some come and go and some stay.

INRAIL

LOL....I had to do a double take.  I had no idea that there was more to the INRAIL "family".  I remember seeing INRAIL in a GMRR issue I believe it was, and it became a favorite of mine.  Outstanding!
