Being a model railroader, I really enjoy the sounds of real trains especially GP 40's. The thing is, I don't have a DCC system of the money for a system but I really want sounds for my layout. I know MRC has a sound system but not specific sounds for locos like GP 40's, SD-70I's, and ES44DC's. Does anyone know of any sound systems for me?

Dear ???, message search hits paydirt...

Dear ???,

A quick dance with the Search function turned up these threads. They get pretty deep, but should cover your question with about every option available...

Do not discount the enormous

Do not discount the enormous benefits afforded by DCC. There are sound decoders with included speakers for under $75 street value. Sure, you can invest over $100 for Tsunami or LOK sound, but you can start at a lesser level. Bachmann has S4s and Fs for around $120 street with DCC sound. Base NCE systems starts around $150 street. Lots of locos? Prioritize into ABC groupings and do the As first. Even entry level sound decoders are superior to generic fixed location sound systems. But, to each his own.
