Progress continues at the Beisser Lumber warehouse on my IAIS Grimes Line layout. Beisser is the top customer on the Grimes Industrial Track in terms of carloads and sits at the north end of the line in Grimes, Iowa. They receive loads of OSB, plywood and dimensional lumber for use in residential and commercial applications.

The core of the building along with most of the styrene exterior is complete. Once it and the additional dormers are complete I'll move on to adding the photo wallpaper, then scenic and detail the scene.

Lookin' Good

My problem is that when I get to the stage you're at with the warehouse, I'm likely to decide it looks fine for the time being, and then I switch to some other project.  One day, some day, I might actually finish a structure model or a scene -- but probably not until I don't have any other mock-ups or sub-structures to build.

Guilty as charged. Last night I ran a op session while the glue was drying, and felt pretty satisfied as I spotted a carload next to this plain, incomplete shell of a building.

I've make a concerted effort to complete each scene/area before moving onto the next. And for the most part, minus the occasional detour, stuck to that commitment.

I like it!

Nice work James.  Looking forward to following it along.  Is that section 18" wide?

I Like It

The structure has some real mass to it, making it look appropriate for rail service.

Scene Depth

16 inches. One of two peninsulas that are accessible from both sides, improving access for operators. The rest of the layout is 8 inches wide.

I hope so. Beisser Lumber is basically the only thing keeping the Grimes Line active nowadays.

You and me both Tom!
