Dri, that switcher looks fantastic.  Nice scene too...what track are you using?

John, nice scene.  Lots of attention to detail there.

Here's my contribution:

Kevin - NOT Fair!

Kevin,

Really not fair posting prototype photos!  Took a lot of looking to find the tell tales that those are model photos!

How did you do the 'oil canning' or load damage on the airslide?

Bulging

Alan - the bulging/wavy panels was an experiment.  I used Milliput and Bondo Spot Putty to create the waves sticking out from the side.  I used a Dremel and created the waves going into the car.  Lots of sanding and Bondo to smooth things out.  The waves only stick out fractions of a millimeter but they catch the light nicely from different angles, similar to the prototype.

Life in a small town

Great work here guys with the weathering and detail on the Soo loco Driline and Kpack's cars. Super detail on that roundhouse scene John. Mark, that bridge scene is fantastic, I can only imagine how big that grand scene is in person.

My photo this week is a quick cell phone picture of the newest structure that I am finishing up. I started Moe's garage and it's neighbor to the right at the same time (which will be a country store), but finished Moe's Garage first.

Not a model photo but this

Not a model photo but this beautiful Rogers built 2-4-2 locomotive is great inspiration for my model railway. It's rails don't go anywhere but the owners are working on that. (They were busy laying track while we were snapping these photos). It is operational (have seen it on another private line), but obviously will need a little TLC and polish before she goes for a run again.

It's of late 1870's vintage and was one of several Rogers built locomotives for New Zealand lines so of course 3ft 6in gauge.

A shot of newly completed

A shot of newly completed scenery.  Inspired by Hans’ Gogebic Range shots, I decided I needed to finish at least a little of the pulp siding.  The Missabe kept a 4-6-0 on hand late into its career to negotiate the sometimes spongy swamp tracks along the pulp lines.  Here, a Bachmann model waits for last minute instructions from the yard super.

wow

Just amazing modeling and photography here week after week!  Always afraid to post it all looks so intimidating to live up to the level you all have achieved!

I just finished the paint job, interior and DCC/sound install on my California HSR model based on the promotional design they released a year or two ago:

Here she is at LAUPT ready to get moving for the mid-day run to the bay area.

In this noir inspired shot, the last southbound of the night has arrived at LAUPT with a few stragglers still milling about over on platform 11-12.

Working on a video of the train now.

ATSF at speed

This photo was inspired by a photo that won the Train magazine photo contest in the late 1990s.  I built the 128 from a RailPower shell just for this shot.  I built a small diorama that moved the camera and train but could never get it to generate the zoom pan.  Recently, I realized there is a filter for that, set up the shot, applied the filter and there it is.  It only took 14 years, I built the loco in 1999.
