I just ordered 2 shapeways products for my next projects.  There's an HOn30 cab that's going to be part of a freelanced locomotive built on a Kato 11-107 chassis (http://www.shapeways.com/model/366117/fge-cab-hon30.html?materialId=61&li=ostatus)  and a pair of HOn30 passenger trucks. (http://www.shapeways.com/model/246618/hon30-passenger-truck-5ft2in-wb.html?materialId=6&li=ostatus)

I figure that these two combined should give me a decent idea as to the quality and utility; I've heard many different assessments of Shapeways products.  Being able to order the most difficult pieces for my HOn30 ambitions seems wonderful!

Shapeways

Pretty cool.  - I am wondering, since the process can make very small details, if anyone has thought about creating HO scale telegraph and telephone equipment? I've always wanteds to detail my depots with scale telegraph keys, sounders, and relays.

3d HO scale telegraph and telephone equipment

I order from, and design for shapeways on a regular basis. Post some pictures and dimensions, and I will give it a try.

Shapeways idea - telegraph

Hi, Kent. Well, they'd be pretty small, but after seeing the tiny link and pin couplers that have been produced, I imagine it is possible. The instruments are a bit intricate, but think you could fudge on some details. I'll se if I can find some plans or else measure and photograph some of my own pieces and see what you think.

Thanks,

UPS Delays

Originally, the Shapeways order was scheduled to be shipped on May 17.  Then, things went smoothly, and it was sent UPS early, with an arrival date of the 17th.  So--out for delivery on the 17th--then, tracking shows "Driver error report," or some such--rescheduled,

Parts are coming!  Eventually!
