At this point all the issue download problems have been resolved.

Earlier today we had an outage on our Primary server and a file naming glitch caused the mirror to have problems as well - the perfect storm.

Everything is now functioning correctly again.

We also had a problem with May issue where some images and diagrams were not showing up on Macs and iOS devices (iPads and iPhones). That problem too, has been resolved.

So if you were having problems downloading, try it again - it should work this time.

If you use the Flash download wizard, you may need to clear your browser cache to reset it so it works properly again. Here's how to do that:

Still a problem

Most of the links to the Blast From The Past on MRH Staff Notes 5 still aren't going where they are supposed to.

Well phooey

Well, phooey. The bad links in the PDF work fine in the online edition. The links are bad because of a bug in Adobe InDesign that will put a hidden carriage return in some URLs. You can't see the carriage return when you look at the link in InDesign, and when you test the link in InDesign it works fine.

You can see the problem on the bad links - just look for a %0D at the end of the URL. If you edit the URL to remove the %0D it will work fine.

Okay, we will delete and re-enter those URLs and hope like crazy InDesign doesn't do it to us again. Then re-upload all the issue versions YET AGAIN. Sheesh.

Just keep repeating to ourselves ... "We love Adobe software, we Love Adobe software, we LOVE Adobe software ..."

I thought Gen2 was gettting away from PDF?

I thought one of the major reasons for Gen2 was to get away from PDF and go to HTML5?!

Then again, I'm still stuck in "Visual Basic" so I get lost with HTML, PDF, Java, and anything late 20th Century! Give be good ole' IF...THEN, etc. any day!  I am totally confused what this stuff about "classes" and all that other "stuff"  LOL!

Gen2 is the first step

Gen2 is the first step to HTML5. We're looking into HTML5 output tools now, but for the moment, we gotta love PDFs. When they work well, they're good, when they don't work well, they are a pain to fix.

All in good time.

If you want to see an HTML5 version of MRH, read the online version on an iPad or iPhone. Or delete Flash from your PC and read the online version. It's 95% of the way there for PCs ... but it looks pretty darn good on iOS devices.

All the links fixed

Fixed all the Blast from the Past links and they should all work now. To our knowledge, this fixes all known problems.
