Dan S.

I have finally made some more progress on my scratchbuilt loco that i posted earlier in my blog.

I have finished the Keystone locomotive Works cab interior and i am very happy with the way it came out.

the Loksound Select decoder has been installed and have done some basic programming. The shells were painted in primer and the paint and decals are coming along.

I have decided to finish the slug mother first and as such i have installed all the led lighting that is in the loco as well as the speaker. the unit has SMD led Ground lights (2) under the cab and a SMD led step light in each corner (4) and SMD led ditch lights(2)

There is 2 SMD leds in each number board (for a total of 4) and 2 larger SMD leds in the headlight and backup light and for those counting  a total of 16 leds i have modeled the umbilical connections between the units using just the pin sockets from an 8 pin dcc connector. These just happen to scale out at exactly the right diameter as the DA mu sockets.

These connections actually carry power between the units as both rail pick ups are used for both units and as the slug is addressed to the mother units address, to avoid having to consist it all the time i have made a loopback on one of the power pickups so if the mother is not connected the slug cannot be used.

The last output in the  tcs a6x decoder in the slug is mapped to function 4 which happens to be the dynamic brake sound on the mother so when the number 4 function button is pressed the dynamic brake sound comes on and i have modified the cannon fans with mobile phone vibrator motors so as the sound comes on the fans spin.

Here are a few pics of the primer and paint stage i have commenced decaling as well.

And finally a video of a test run i did with just some basic programming.

Cheers

Dan

Fantastic!

I love these CSX road slugs, great to see someone modeling them.

I really like the cab interior, might have to do that to some of my models too.

Fantastic Detail

You've done some fantastic detail work on those models. I especially like the hose detail between the engines. This is the kind of modeling I like to see.

BTW, that engine didn't run over that track worker did it?
(Referring to the critter running along the track at about 1:59 in the video.)

Very impressive

You've really taken it to the next level, Dan. The units looks great, the detail is amazing and the GP40-2 really sounds good. Nice work!

Thanks for the kind words. I

Thanks for the kind words. I was wondering how many were going to pick up the critter in the video. I only noticed after editing. Still waiting for some more detail parts and then some weathering. San
