Scenery is underway on the Grimes Peninsula and Beisser Lumber on my IAIS Grimes Line layout. The track has been painted and detailed, and the large Beisser Lumber lot is cut, installed and weathered. Late today I finished up NW 54th Avenue, which serves as the northern border of my modeled section.

The Beisser warehouse is next which will replace the matte board serving as a "footprint mockup"

Tracks End

This looks like a great scene. Please post more pictures as you go.

Suggest a piece of clear plastic at end of track. You do not want the big opps.

Nice work

Nice work there James.  I'm looking forward to seeing this come together - in photos and in person.

By the way, what did you ever decide to do about the back side of that loading platform on the left?

Building On The Edge

fascia.jpg

Hi Joe,

Ended up extending the fascia to cover the loading dock, since I had done a similar treatment on the Interstate 35/80 overpasses. I used a small strip of styrene painted the same color. You can obviously tell the difference in materials but the small size of the dock led to easier use with styrene.

Yes you can see the seams. I've long since given up on making my fascia completely seamless, despite trying multiple techniques and materials. It doesn't bother me as much as I thought it would.

Looks good

I think that's very effective James.  After seeing Lance Mindheim's submission on this topic on the Proto-Layouts list with the structure walls in black, and Jack Burgess's and yours in the fascia color, I don't think you could go wrong either way.  As long as the work is relatively neat so as not to draw attention to the demarcation line, both look very nice.

I like the Bridge

I think the bridge is a very good way to break the scene apart from the rest of the RR.  Scene dividers are used on my CNY&NE and I like to think of my layout as a bunch of interconnected scenes.  Buildings, bridges, tunnels and the like all work well for this purpose.  Your work looks very nice, keep the pictures coming for us.
