... So my wife says "Why don't you work on the patio until the sections can go in your train room?" I'm not sure who she so, despite a room built for my hobbies" I am now taking over the patio. I's like 85 degrees up there during the day anyway. Turns out that our local craft store had some Woodland Scenic kits for school projects, or nuts like me, so I bought a couple and didn't follow any directions to add some color to my yard. I got sort of into setting up some trains and took a few pics. One came out interesting so I posted it below. Of course the background is actually the Pacific Ocean and a lots of grey sky. It has made me wonder if my backdrops should be grey instead of blue - naw. Spent some time mocking up the curved backdrop where it meets the sloping ceiling with cardboard from Sears. They were nice enough to give me a giant refrigerator box so that was used to give it a try - cheaper than the Masonite. It became clear that the horizon will be above the wall and on the slope of the ceiling. Duh. I'm 6'-4" so the horizon will be at about six feet from the floor and the wall starts sloping at four feet. It never seemed that obvious though as I imagined looking down on the railroad from a vantage point above (toward the ocean). The ocean will still meet the sky at my eye level. Check out the second photo and let me know what you think. Neil Umauma Plantation Railway?

Very nice!

I like the somber mood projected by the gray sky - the module looks great!!  (Hope the guy gets out of the habit of walking on the tracks, though- major safety hazard!)

Years ago I built a layout with backdrops painted with gray skies and rain clouds  - the setting was the coastal Pacific Northwest, where things frequently look that way!

Love that second shot

Really love that second shot.  It's really fantastic, especially that narrow guage caboose!
