Near us at the train show in Hartford was Frenchmen River Model Works who produce a great line of resin model kits of various boats (along with other items). This year they had on display some great steam tug kits, which will be ideal for my Bronx Terminal layout. I took a few shots of the models he had on display in the booth, which are at the top of this page. When he wasn't looking, I swiped one of the models and placed it on my layout for a few shots. (Ok, I didn't really swipe it, he was nice enough to let me take it, but I was willing to attempt a swipe once I saw his display versions.)

Of course, I had to buy one, which I am really looking forward to building in the near future. This is a company from Nebraska producing model boat kits, which might seem odd. Of course I am from Southern Ontario building a model of a terminal in New York, so I guess its a good match.

If you get a chance, read the "about us" page on his site.

Who was it  building an "N" Scale Dock , Tug and Car float?  I'm sure they will be interested in the Photos of the Car float on the Frenchmen River Model works site.

Make sure you post photos of Your finished Tug as soon as they release you from the Brig!!

Not so odd.  For instance, Admiral Chester Nimitz was born in the middle of Texas, far from any sizable body of water, and although guided by his grandfather who had been in the German merchant marine service, he wanted to be a soldier.  He went to Indianapolis to be a sailor only because West Point was full.

N-Scale car floats and aprons

That was me. I didn't see anyhting on the site in N-Scale and I couldn't find any place to send an inquiry either.

The HO stuff is nice and if I was doing what I am doing in that scale I would most certainly order one of those diesel tug kits to use with Walther's HO Scale car floats. As things stand now, I will probably oder a Sylvan N-Scale tug or two and make the car floats and the related aprons and float bridges out of bass wood.

I still have time to play with that as I am currently working on the center penninsula that will eventually support a helix to allow access to an upper level.

"Jocko" Clark

THat's true about Nimitz. But what;s even stranger is the story of Admiral J. J. who was a full blooded Ameirican Indian who rose to the command of one of the carrier task groups of Task Force 38/58 during World War II.

As for there being no Naval activity on the middle of the country because it far fromt he water, well that isn't true either because there were many land-locked installations and factories that did supply lots of stuff to the Navy and Coast Guard during World War II and there are still some that do that today.

This post is totally off Topic no trains at all

There is the Navy's Largest Base in Fallon Nevada in fact The base compiles almost 40% of the state of Nevada though 90% of it isn't used The Navy just owns it. The Navy air wing there has a giant Bomb range about 25 miles east of the town of Fallon and they Mock up Target ships, Towns and cities as well as complete mock ups of foreign military installations and they practice bombing them. I spent about 9 months of my time in the Navy stationed there.

It was weird being in the U.S.Navy and spending part of my tour of Duty in The largest Desert in the United States. No tug boats but they do or did have a Destroyer set in the sand and they would have practice General quarters drills on it.

Attn: Joe and company fell free to delete this post if you wish as it has nothing to do with model Railroading.

How say?

The Southern Pacific served Fallon.  So, it is railroad related.
