Ventana

I picked up this motor on ebay. it says it's DCC ready.  I believe that means it has the plug for a dcc module.  My question is, will this run on my dc layout the way it is, without the dcc module installed?

Dear Ventana, On quick

Dear Ventana,

On quick glance, and with no other info to go on, it _looks_ like the motor and PCB from a Athearn (Current/Horizon-era) SW1500 or similar. If it is as suspected, then yes, it should run fine on a analog layout.

Note the little circuit board plugged into the rainbow-colored loom or wires (9-pin JST socket). Again, if this is what I _think_ it is, it's a "dummy jumper" to allow running on analog.

To convert to DCC:

- remove that "dummy jumper"

then either
- plug a NMRA 8-pin decoder into the 8-pin socket on the main PCB

OR

- plug a 9-pin decoder into the 9-pin JST loom where the dummy jumper was plugged in

Hope this helps,

I need to replace the dogbones to make this work in a Athearn GP40 bluebox.  I found these http://www.athearn.com/Products/Default.aspx?ProdID=ATH90114which are close to my rough measurement of 1".  Does anyone have an idea if I am on the right track?

I'd be getting out the micrometer and make sure of the required measurement.

I see they have a set that measures 1.055". It may be easier to shave .055" off those than try to stretch the ones you linked to.

Close only counts in horseshoes.

lol, thanks, Alex.  I re-measured and it's 3/4" from the worm gear to the flywheel and about another 1/4"  into the flywheel.  I'll order them, I think it will work.

thanks for the help.
