My latest freight car project is this Kadee 50 foot cushion frame box car. Thanks to fellow modeler Frank Jordan for turning me on to this one. Highball Graphics makes this decal set. F-243. Kadee offers the car in this 1965 paint scheme however the green is too new for my 1977 modeling era. I removed the lettering and re-painted the car using a more faded PC Jade green. Fallen Flags web site provided the prototype photo of the 18095.

Nice

Very nice job on the boxcar, Bob- the weathering looks great. You really captured the look of the prototype. For those who are interested, here's a link to the photo of the car on the Fallen Flags website:  http://www.rr-fallenflags.org/dti/dti18095alx.jpg. Thanks for sharing the photo, and it's great to see you on the MRH forum.

gotta love pastel

You gotta love those horrendous pastel DT&I paint schemes.  Nice job, Bob.

Maybe you could share an update on your layout sometime.  I was always fascinated with your Soo Line layout.

My Layout

If anyone is interested you can see my 1977 Soo Line RR on Youtube. It was wonderfully shot and edited by Douglas Hildebrandt. Last year I replaced my 25 year old Grisswald scratch built signals with ones made by Mark Pruessler of Sheboygan WI. The signals are fantastic and come with a slow geared servo motor pre attached!

  On youtube just search-

Déjà vu, all over again...

Excellent work! It's great to see you've meandered over to the MRH forum Mr Rivard. I've always enjoyed seeing your somewhat similar 1-page proto freight car articles in (the long defunct) RailModel Journal. So catching this DT&I PS-1 thread is almost like a case of déjà vu for me.

Please post more of your future work here if you can. I always find these help to inspire me to get off my backside and bash/weather a long neglected proto-project of my own.

Great video, Bob- thanks for posting the link. Like Jurgen, I've always been fascinated by your layout and have followed your work in the magazines for a long time. It's great to see the layout in action!

Great box car and layout

I have read every rolling stock weathering article you have had published that I could find. I have also enjoyed your Soo Line layout since I first discovered it, maybe when I was 16? I know I was still in high school, it made such an impression on me. And great looking box car, by the way!
