Contact cement? Rubber cement? Gold ol' Elmers white glue?  Caulk?

I know..."google is your friend", and I've done it. I have your basic craftstore checkerboard pattern cardstock sheet that I'm using for a floor of a cafe, and wondering what you, the MRH reader, recommends as a bonding agent.  I don't want things to 'levitate' around the floor or anything, so your experiences are much appreciated.

The plan is to cut things oversize, attach to the floor, and then place the completed walls on top and use that as a cutting template for the cardstock.  The walls are not square, so using the floor as a pattern is not an option.  I will have to do some interior trim-work with styrene on the inside, as I want this cafe illuminated and don't want the bleed-through.

Forgot to add..!!

and this is really what I wanted to post about (I got side-tracked by the wife) but how would one create on the cardstock the shine of a polished floor??  Can some gloss spray of any given sort be ok? Paper curls at such stuff, so I really wanted to ask that, but a proper glue job to the plastic under-floor should prevent any issues, right?

Yeah but

will 3M products do the job?  I think I have some of the 77 lying around actually, but totally forgot about it as an option.

What about the gloss finish on my tile?? Anyone?

Super 77

Super 77 will work just fine. Spray a good heavy coat, heavier than you would spray paint, onto the back of the paper and attach quickly.

As for the glossy tile affect could you layer a clear piece of acetate or printer transparency material over the top of the printed tile to give it a nice shine?

Just an idea.

For a glossy floor

For a glossy floor print your pattern on high gloss photo paper

Glossy floor and adhesive

I have used photo paper and glued it down with Aleene's tacky glue.  Spread it even and thin on wood.  Super 77 would work on just about any surface, but a little less forgiving.

Ok, I could scan my floor

Ok, I could scan my floor pattern (card) and then print it onto glossy photo paper.  I've got plenty of that around.

I've also considered scanning it and making one huge decal, which could then easily be sprayed with Krystal Clear.    May seem like a waste of decal paper, but I'll never make that many decals, so this way the sheets in the pack won't all go to waste.  I could even tweak the scanned image to show some worn/ scuffed areas maybe.  I'll have to play around with it.  Maybe add a "welcome" mat or something too.

I did make two small wood-grained door decals with a "Men" and "Women" sign on each for the restroom doors, and added a small slight shadow around them to enhance things.  Probably never see them unless you get a dentist's mirror and put it up to the window, but if I didn't do it I think I'd regret it later!
