They're MP4

These videos are MP4 format, which is a newer format that allows for very small but high quality videos.

The latest version of Quicktime will play these files, as will Adobe Media player (both players are a free download).

Unfortunately, Windows Media Player is a bit behind the times and doesn't seem to like MP4 files - they want you to use the larger and Windows-specific .wmv format. Rather than cater only to Windows users, we prefer the MP4 format. MP4 video format files are exceptionally compact and the video quality is excellent.

Since the players are free and most will already have one of these players installed, it shouldn't be a problem for most people.

Here's another fine example of a post that is not, IMO, worth responding to.

I read it before and ignored it at that time for obvious reasons.  "Bonus Videos"?  Which videos?  Where?  What Operating System?  What player?  How is anyone expected to help you?  With this little information provided...who cares?  Luckily, Joe cared...

Since I can view ALL of the videos I have ever downloaded from MRH I was at a loss as to what solution to offer this person.

If you are having difficulties and you expect results, at least take the time to explain the issue you are having and what YOU have tried to do to fix the problem that YOU have.

First of all  the post was

First of all  the post was for Joe and not you and he was kind enough to reply.

second if you had been paying attention you would know the issue 3 of MRH has bonus content if you download it within 30 days.

third the operating system is irrelevant

fouth if I don't know what the file is how can I know what player to use.

I spent 2 hours trying every program I have and couldn't play it.I have never been able to play mp4's even with quiktime.

I am not a computer progrmmer and info on playing these files should have been provided

Take a pill and build a model

I obviously missed where you mentioned it was for Joe's eyes only.  Joe was indeed kind.  I am less inclined to show kindness in the face of belligerant ignorance.

Just as irrelevant as your first post on the subject was.

This explains why it is the fault of MRH...i suppose...?

Ok, obviously you are completely ignorant when it comes to technology.  That information ALONE would have been helpful if you had posted it.  Any information for that matter...

Have a nice day!

Nope

You didn't ask for help.

If you had explained your problem reasonably, and had asked for help it would be one thing but the way you, "ask for help" needs some serious work.

With your own statements you you point the finger at someone other than yourself.

Phrased as though multitudes have the same problem you do.

No, I don't think I'll "stay off the air", thanks anyway!

Have a nice day.

As a professional in the IT area, I cannot identify one item more than this type of attitude that drives me absolutely insane when it come to problem resolution. It does nothing to aid in the situation and is nothing more than an indicator of the arrogance of ignorance.

With all due respect, the folks that manage and work at this site didn't need the serial number of his processor to post a response that was at once timely, accurate, and informative. Had the individual continued to post questions due to continued problems, than such details might be necessary, but here that was not the case.

Please also do not on one hand criticize the OP's use of the collective plural, and than turn around and use it yourself. While I won't speak for other forum members, you don't speak for myself, and I take offense at being included in your statement.

I sincerely hope that the original poster not be dissuaded by this, and give the site a fair chance has a place to share model railroading ideas, experience, and fun.

Enough with trying to get the last word in.

Drop it and let it go.  My kids are more mature and respectful.

Oh Of Course

I should have known YOU would be sure to take offense at something that has nothing to do with YOU.

I wouldn't dream of speaking for you scarpia, and your suggestion that I have is ridiculous at best.

As a "self proclaimed", "professional in the IT area" you should know that system and software information is always helpful in diagnosing problems, but you apparently don't know that...

Have a nice day...
