Just a quickie here. Not getting notifications on replies to my post. I've checked the check box in "Receive content follow-up notification e-mails" but no joy.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance and regards,

Roberto

No notifications here

I have notifications checked (I just verified this on my profile) and have never received a notification email.  (I run the mail server for my domain so I am 100% sure incoming mail is not being spam-filtered or rejected by my connectivity provider.)

Then again, I visit the site often enough I probably see the reply before I read the notification email

In the past..

I have received the notices.  They became annoying to me so I started to uncheck the box. It looks like is not an option at this point.

Module is confusing in how it works

The comment notify is confusing in how it works so we turned it off. Looks like we didn't complete the job, so we just went in and removed it the rest of the way. Two problems with the module: 1. Only the thread Original Poster (first post of a thread) gets the notifications, all other posters to the thread don't get notices even though it shows a check box. 2. More and more, major hosting services like AOL and Comcast are flagging entire ISPs as spammers and anyone who is hosted with that ISP has their emails automatically marked as spam. That's now happening to us so we use a different host for our weekly email blasts so they get though. Long story short, the notify was of limited use so were shutting it down.

Thanks for the explanation!

Thanks for the background info, Joe -- #1 would explain why I didn't get notifies (I've yet to create a new topic ) and #2 is enough of a disincentive to get it to work like people would expect.

Besides, visiting the site more often runs up the ad views and makes MRH more valuable to advertisers, right?

If you want notifications on what's new

If you want notifications on what's new, you can use our Recent Posts RSS feed ( http://mrhmag.com/tracker_rss) and the Feedly RSS reader.

Makes the MRH website look like quite nice, like a magazine. Plus once you mark everything as "read" in Feedly, it willl highlight only what's new the next time.
