Nitpicking - all caps

You might want to think about not using all caps for your post as it looks like you are SCREAMING.

[end of my nitpicking]

Interesting idea

Vinny,

I like your use of making a slide show using a video editing program. I've put that idea in the tool box.

Now, I'm interested how you managed to get a tour of a chemical facility? They sure seemed very receptive to letting you take pictures. Just courious.

TOUR !!

good morning bernd

since i am an "N" scale person, i always carry an "N" scale loco with me when i go out rail fanning, i use it as my calling card.so, when i want to get a tour, i go into the place in question,  ask to see the plant manager. when i meet the manager, i take out my calling card (the loco) i explain who i am & what i am doing. then i take it one step further by showing him pics of his business that  i have modeled & have stored in my phone.then he introduces me to the ops manager & from there it's history. they had no problems with me taking photos.

of course this method doesn't always work. i have tried doing it this way with 4 different places i have modeled. only one declined my request.

i hope this answers your question

Interesting prototype

Vinny, nice prototype and video...I have been out to Waddel numerous time many years ago, when the diesels were blue and yellow...between Fertizona and CalGas, you have the makings of an interesting pair of industrieis for operations. Not far away, Luke Air Force Base used to receive tank cars of JP4, another interesting potential if you shift your time back to the eighties or earlier (I think the spur was removed in the early nineties).

The Peavine is a great subject for a model railroad, my favorite spot is just south of Wickenburg along the Hassayampa River...

PROTOTYPE

good morning Verne

thanks for the comment. i have chosen the Peavine because i live here in phoenix & love BN,BNSF& ATSF. the day that we did the the tour at Fertizona we also did rail fanning at Cal Gas. Cal Gas was switching out by 2 gp38's & at the same time, F18's & F22's from Luke were doing touch & go's.. it was a great day...planes, trains & automobiles. the automobile part is because i was using my daughters 2012 Camaro for the day.

i am modeling the Peavine from Phoenix to Ash Fork which includes the Hassyampa river. if you go to my blog page you can see most of the progress of my layout. the link is at the bottom of this post.

i am probably going to post the switching action at Cal Gas. the video shows what appears to be the switchers going back & forth ( the battery in my camera was going low so all the shots were cut short). they had to move ( if i remember correctly) 50 cars out & 50 cars in. & in addition had about 50 cars waiting about a mile down the line. Cal Gas is the only industry that wouldn't allow us on their property

do you live here in az??

thanks for watching & the comment

Hassyampa River

hello Verne

thanks for watching & the comment

i am modeling the Peavine from Phoenix to Ash Fork. the layout includes the Aqua Frea bridge & the Hassyampa River scenes. if you go to my blog page you can see most of my layout. i even had a steamer running on my layout. http://www.bnsf6951.blogspot.com

this rail fanning day, was a day of planes, trains & automobiles. the train part you see, the plane part was a day of touch & goes from Luke AFB with F18's & F22's buzzing us overhead at about a 1000 ft.. the car part of the day was my daughter let me use her 2012 Camaro..all in all it was a great day

this is my second attempt to answer you post..hope it goes this time
