Hey everybody, finally got some video of the sounds of the new MRC 1913 sound decoder.  It's mostly a still video right now but does go through some of the basic sounds of the decoder.  This first vid is about the 6 prime mover sounds.  Sorry if the picture is a bit fuzzy but I put the camera up pretty close to capture as much sound as possible.  Will work on better videos in the near future so for now just bear with me as I get accustomed to shooting videos.

< /iframe> ">As for sound, I'll let you all be the judge.  It has a lot of good sounds but it also has a few not so desireable sounds.  That part has to do with how the sound files were cut and programmed into the decoder.

For me, the EMD 645E and the EMD 710 seem to be the best with the Alco 244 the worst.  The Alco 539 sound is ok as is the EMD 567 and 645. I will go through the various horns and bell available in another post.

Having compared this first decoder to a Bachmann Tsunami Sound value RS3, the Tsunami blows the MRC out of the water.  So, for now sit back and give a listen and don't make to much fun of me!

First Video

Hi Nelson- Thanks for posting your preliminary video of the MRC. I agree with your assessment comparing to the Tsunami or even the new QSI Titan. I've done a few comparative videos here: http://m.youtube.com/user/fisker761?feature=guide You maybe interested in the TsuDie/Titan ALCO 244 comparative video:http://m.youtube.com/#/watch?v=JHI_4wfbUKA Keep posting, Erik

Interesting...Nelson, do you

Interesting...Nelson, do you know what the street price on this will be? I see some of the newer MRC stuff is approaching the price of a Tsunami. It is a personal preference, but I know i'll spend a few dollars more for the Tsunami if I am going to spend that much anyway.

Street Price!

Pure speculation on my part, but I suspect you could expect to see a "street price" of around $60 to $70.  MSRP is $99.95 on my package and MRC's web site for this decoder.

As for the Bachmann RS3, YES Tsunami is manufacturing the decoders for them in a "Sound Value" line.  Basically, it's a toned down version of a full blown Tsunami decoder that still has A LOT of functions but not any of the finer sound control features like reverb, delay, and equalizer functions.  As for the motor functions, those seem to be the same.  The Bachmann RS 3 runs like a dream with very smooth functions and acts a lot like a much more expensive locomotive from other manufacturers.

Agreed

I will second the Bachmann comments...the S-2, S-4, 2-6-0 etc. with sound are super value for the money. They all run very well. I am excited to see what they do with the NS Heritage units coming out.
