I have need for at least 4 of the floors/chassis for the old time passenger cars. I believe these were called "overton" also. I could also build what I need if I can find a supplier for the step/platform ends of these cars. They are very similar to what a caboose uses.  I am just beginning the kitbashing "thing" so the only place I knew to look was Walthers catalog and I cannot find anything. Thanks, Randy

Horizon

Walthers doesn't carry any Athearn or Roundhouse (Horizon Co.) products since they are direct competitors (Horizon doesn't carry Walther's products either).  You will need to contact Roundhouse directly for parts or look on E-bay for models being sold.

Alternative:  Since you seem to need the steps, you could buy cabooses and just use those steps.  Cabooses can be had pretty cheap used on E-Bay and train shows.

Here's a link to Athearn site where you can still purchase MDC overtons.

You didn't mention which "Overtons."

MDC made 50 foot Overtons and  36 foot Overtons.

MDC cars

Overlands were 50 feet.

Overtons were 36 feet. I assume you know the Overton term is a label made up by MDC.

Possible parts

Be advised, the parts are made of lead. I have bought from Bitter Creek.

Ebay

You can get Overton coaches cheap on ebay, often new, unassembled, kits.  I've got a few, soon to get the paint stripped...

Thanks

I appreciate all of the help so far. The Bitter creek tip seems to be the best.

Bitter Creek

Bitter Creek bought the BC Models company that Bob Cook use to own, sometime in the late 1990's. I have a few of the cars. The 1870 UP Photographer's car is my favorite.

Still waiting for some of the 1860 to 1906 rolling stock kits.

Bob use to have the two Sierra Car kits with complete interior that MDC used to copy to make the Overtons. I still have the BC Models catalog which I scanned and forwarded to HO Seeker.

I bought some today

at the WGH show in San Mateo. The dealer still had several, especially baggage cars. If you live in the bay area, you can drop by and see MC Fugiwara's work to boot. pqe
