A Gathering of Hobos

reeleys1.jpg

Here's a gathering place for some of the hobos that still frequent the rails of the PWRR.
The fellow warming himself by the fire is rumored to be the one whose been going around imitating the Bozo Texino graffiti artistry on some of the PWRR box cars.

The shack is a B.T.S. "Greeley's Place" available in S, O, & HO and the outhouse was scratchbuilt. The figures are Artista.

B&W Theme: PRR RS-1

Continuing with the theme of black&white photos, I took this one of my Pennsylvania Railroad RS-1 about two years ago. It is a Railmaster Hobbies kit, S-scale. I scratch-built the handrails (front, sides, and rear), as well as the cab signal box which you can see from this angle right in front of the cab (this was part of the reason why I wanted to scratch-build the handrails). The only other added detail is the bell (seen under the body, center). I took this photo to show the effects of the SMD LEDs that I used both for the headlights and the cab interior light. I installed a Soundtraxx Tsunami decoder in the engine, with a speaker box in the short hood area. All is very tight in there. You can see my full write-up with tons of photos of how I built this model on my web site ( pmrr.org).

Laying track

I'm still laying track and will be doing that for a long time. That train is a German express train. The model is almost 10 feet long.

Love that steamer above!

I have another oldie from the last layout showing a newly shopped Union Pacific TTT-6 backing out of the roundhouse and onto a parking track for some final adjustments that don't need to be done in the bay.

Section 18 Mine

Missabe 2-8-0 # 1215 (Spectrum) switches empties into the Section 18 mine.  Still no way to get up to the top of the mine building - stairs are on order.  The mine building is a Walthers bin with paper printed corrugated walls and roof.  The backdrop is a print from a photo I took of the real mining area in northern MN, albeit 70 years later.

Mopac Hospital Flat

Some great looking models and photos so far.  My latest project is a modified Athearn Flat Car and an old Eel River RBL painted and decaled. The diorama is not mine, but the photos and models are. - Jeff Meyer

Nice photos

The Soo equipment is very well done. I like the SF yellow bonnet phot, too. Imparts a sense of serious moving mass.

Another B&W

NYC VO-1000 8604 is in a siding at Coogans Bluff, waiting on an other train to pass by, on its way to pick up some cars at Meesville on route to Jasper Yard.

@ Charlie, what do you paint

@ Charlie, what do you paint your rail with? The color has always struck me as just right.
