Hi everyone. I have two N-Scale Atlas GP-15 locos that have Digitrax DN163A4 installed. One of them performs perfectly but the other has a severely limited top speed. A crawl is about all it will do. I have made no adjustments to either decoder other than changing the address of each. I have checked CV 5 and 6 and both are set to 0 on each loco. Any bright ideas? David

Attempt to run on DC.

If the decoder is not hardwired, unplug it and use a DC jumper board to run the offending loco on DC.  If you don,t have one, try to reset CV 8 = 8 and try it from there on address 3.  It's either a friction issue in the drive or a CV setting in the decoder.  Also you might try to set CV 2 = 0, CV 5 = 255 and CV 6 = 128.  Try a reset first before opening up the shell.

Slow speed

David, Some of the Digitrax decoders have a "slow speed" feature on them. On such decoders I have installed when I press F6 on my throttle the loco speed is 1/2 of the original speed. Have you tried doing a factory reset on the decoder?

Sort of sorted

I tried all the suggestions. I also gave the chassis an oil and set it running around the loop for some time. The thing that did seem to make a difference was setting cv2 to 2 etc. the loco now seems to run at about 80% of the other GP-15. Thanks for all the help. David
