Today I found out I will not be able to get ties from Micro-Engineering till WHEN??? They could not tell me.

Not a happy railroader today. Anyone know what would be a GOOD substitute.

Try This

Need ME wood ties?  Try 6X8 scale stripwood.  It's a good match for ties on ME flex track.  I pre-color the wood, then cut to length on a Northwest Short Line "Chopper" and touch up the cut ends.

I think I have some left (personally)

I just sold my old pre-stained packs, but I think I have some unstained ones still. Contact me off-forum if you want to follow up.

I had a package of stained ME

I had a package of stained ME wood ties for a couple years. Then I went to use it and their small spikes split every tie I drove them in. I decided to go with unfinished ties from Northeastern Scale lumber as well as Fast Tracks.

Pilot holes help...

On a previous project, I built some Fast Tracks turnouts and wanted them detailed with Photo:87 Stores tie plates & spikes for photos. Same thing, ties splitting and spikes bending over... I drilled pilot holes just a couple of thousandths smaller than the spike - I can't remember what size it was. The spikes slipped right into the pilot holes with no problems. If you're concerned with the spikes being loose, you can dip the sharp end of the spike into a drop of CA before you insert it into the pilot hole.

Len
