Hello Friends

My name is Jürg and I'm from Switzerland. I collect weathered Engine and Cars and also Dioramas. I love to arrange them on my Dioramas outside in the Sun and take pictures. Here are a few example from my Swamp Diorama (without sun because it was a bit rainy).

The Diorama was build from my Friend Stefan Foerg, the Cars are from Gary Christensen and the Engines from Rodney Walker.

OMG...

Jurg, Firstly welcome to MRH, and secondly those photos are beyond any doubt the "best" modelling and dioramas I've seen to date on MRH period! Those photos are simple amazing, stunning, and so unbelievable real it is not funny! Joe or Jeff please add Jurg's work to the Yes, It's a Model banners! And Jurg please more photos, and an article or two for MRH would be fantastic! Jas...

Whauuu....

That's it! I give up weathering. Until this date I have been striving to get to level of Pelle Søeborg (no offense Pelle), but now I give up. These models sets a whole new standard, both regarding weathering, but also landscape wise.

All kidding aside, that is the best modelling I have ever seen.

Hope to see much more from you, Jurg.

Stunning modeling. Your YouTube posting indicates you are the photographer only. Is that correct? If so, pass along to the builders a hearty congratulations for doing extemporary modeling. Truly breathtaking.

So Good!!!

I guess I'm a cynic, I looked close at these photos and had my doubts. So I looked very close, and still had my doubts. I was wrong. This is some of the best modeling I have ever seen.

I'm amazed at the level of detail, it is not like a painting, but just like a photograph!

Great!

thanks so much for sharing.  It gives many of us an opportunity to see and learn.  Well, see to start with, learn that is something many will strive for.  I think we're all anxious to see more. It would be great to have some video with conversation about all aspects or the work.

I think we are all appreciative of the efforts applied to this truly life like modeling.

Great photography and great

Great photography and great modeling!  Would love to have the builder of the diorama share his technics with us! The level of detail on the rolling stock and in particular the engines is amazing as well as the weathering! I have been involved with this hobby for many many years and I have to say this is some of the best if not THE best modeling I have seen! Welcome to MRH and thank you for posting!!!

The Weathering Shop

You can see much more of the loco and freight car weathering from Rodney Walker and Gary Christensen at The Weathering Shop site, which includes a store for the featured artists.  Here are some previously sold models from Rodney Walker  http://theweatheringshop.com/rodneysales.html plus the gallery http://theweatheringshop.com/rodneymenu.html.  Gary Christensen doesn't have a list of sold models posted, but his gallery is here http://theweatheringshop.com/gmodels.html.

Thank you very much for all

Thank you very much for all the great and kind comments and the warm welcome. I'll answer all the questions you may have. One thing is very important for me: please remember that I'm only a Collector and Photographer the honor of the great work goes to the Artists who build and weather the Engine and Cars and of course to the Guys who build the different Dioramas. Here is a picture that shows the setup.

I'll show some more photos from a new Diorama later tonight.

Wow, those are amazing shots.  Thank you to all involved to help making these wonderful pictures...I even had a friend convinced that these were actual day to day pictures, until I told him it was a model, and even then, it took  him another look to see.

Hello Friends for many

Hello Friends

for many Years I had the Idea of reflecting water for my pictures, then a couple of month ago my Friend Gary showed a Diorama with Rain Puddles effect, have a look here and see the last picture of the series:

http://theweatheringshop.com/gichchick2.html

I've talked with my Friend Stefan from Germany who build the Swamp Diorama for me about my Idea and 2 month later I've got a Mini-Diorama with the perfect surface for reflection.

Pascal, I've a Nikon D90 and

Pascal, I've a Nikon D90 and mostly I use a Nikon 35mm lens but the camera and the lens are not so important. There are many "secretes" behind good pictures. First, the Models and the Diorama must be very detailed and weathered. Second, bring the Diorama outside to the sun to get the best light. If you take pictures in the morning, midday or afternoon changes the whole szene because the light is warmer in the afternoon. Third, get a steady Tripod. Fourth, get a Programm like Helicon Focus, read more here: http://www.heliconsoft.com/heliconfocus.html

I hope this helps a bit, feel free to ask more Good luck!
