I model 1949, and this photo was taken at Sicamous, on the CPR main line between the division points at Kamloops and Revelstoke. Sicamous was developed by the railway as a destination for water sports on Shuswap Lake, and the building at right is the hotel/depot, which lasted until 1956. Sicamous was also the junction point of the Okanagan subdivision, which ran down to Kelowna. 2860 on track 1 heads a transcontinental train on the CPR main line, while 962 with the Kelowna mixed on track 2 awaits passengers transferring for points down the Okanagan valley. Further left, a switcher with dual gauge idler cars handles cars interchanging with the 3-foot gauge Vancouver, Westminster and Yukon Railway, which heads north from here to the Yukon territory. The latter is fiction of course. There never was dual gauge track at Sicamous, and the prototype VW&YR was never here, nor was it narrow gauge..

Nice

Even though I only have two, I gives this three thumbs up for modeling, photography and the history lesson.
