im looking for an mrh advertiser who sells micro engineering ho weathered rail in code 83.  fast tracks sells non-weathered rail, but id like the weathered rail.  i have used me code 83 weathered rail flex track and that works well for me.  now, id like to try handlaying some track.

A caveat about hand laying

A caveat about hand laying track with weathered rail...  I hand laid weathered M/E c/55, rail using FastTracks jigs on a previous project. The rail must be thoroughly cleaned to bare metal to be soldered or glued down to the ties. As the weathering etches the rail, its a P-I-A to get clean plus you've got to go back and touch up all the places you cleaned up for soldering. As for MRH advertisers here's one I'm familiar with...

Dallas Model Works M/E product page

I'm sure there's at least a couple more MRH advertisers that carry M/E products.

Len

thanks

see, this is why im enjoying mrh.  lots of great ideas in the magazine, great photos, and a great community.  thanks everyone.  ill try the dallas folks.  i am concerned about the weathered rail and soldering and gluing.  fortunately, ive got a dremmel with countless attachments.

about 25 years ago, i handlaid some code 100 nickel silver.  glue and an occasional spike held really well.  in fact, the trains went into the barn for 20 years and the track was still in ok-ish shape after sub zero winters and 90+ degree summers.
