I had stumbled across this modeler, Elizabeth Allen, from a link

over at Joe Fugate's Siskiyou website. Her scratch-building abilities

goes to show what one can do with a little patience, and a lot of passion

for the art of scratch-building.

The first link below shows her SP SD-45X,  and is quite a site to behold:

This second link shows her SP SW-1500.

Truly an amazing modeler!

Larry's right ...

Larry's right - Liz Allen is an amazing modeler. Just take a look at her SD45 cabling and piping detail in HO ...

This model is just crying to have scale Sergent couplers installed - what a shame it would be to install Kadee #5's in a model like this!

Agreed

Fantastic model. I also like the SW1500 conversion, that's kind of  timely for me, so thanks for the post!

And Joe, I couldn't agree wth you more on the Sergents - than again, I'm biased.

Sergent couplers

Wow,

I'm just getting back into the hobby after a brief hiatus, and I

was not aware of Sergent couplers.

Here's their link:

These couplers would be a most welcomed change over the

other standard coupler we've all known about for a long time.

Their prototypical look is just outstanding, and would compliment

Elizabeth's handywork nicely.

Thanks, Joe!

Elizabeth Allen

She brought some of her work to the 2007 Pacific NW RPM meet.  The wow factor in her models sets a high bar and keeps me trying to better my own modelling.

Oh Yeah sure!!

We all know Elizabeth didn't really detail these engines!!

In fact she invented a machine that shrinks Prototype engines down to HO scale! You can't fool us

I wish I had her machine

The 'Shrink-O-Matic,' perhaps?

You know, Dan, I was thinking the same thing about Elizabeth's

modeling skills.

They're so good that she's probably employed the new

(and improved) 'Shrink-O-Matic' machine.

Now, if I could only incorpoate the same level of detail on

my N scale models, that should raise a few eyebrows, eh?

I know you'll love a future issue of MRH then!

I've met Elizabeth, albiet shortly, at WPM 2008, and I pretty much grantee she'll be at WPM 2009.
