Hi all,

this week I received my Digitrax PR3, along with an sd24 (Atlas Gold series) and the latest Kato GE c44-9w (both UP's) so, yep it was kinda X-mass when I came home, specially with the PR3.

To make a joyfull story short, I think I might have overseen some thing, my PR3 plays numb......willing to use it with JMRI as a stand alone programmer, but nothing happens. Installed the PR3 as per instructions, set JMRI decoder pro to the PR3 settings, nadda, al I get is " time out error " when trying to read a decoder on the programming track. Now when using the included PR3 utility " DIGIPL "  on opening I see the dot green, then it goes black with a  ".DMF file not loaded or valid " statement. I have been reading and reading and re-reading but I just turn around in circles. Even un-installed and re-installed every thing, still the same. Using XP for the info.

Could one advice me on this please, would be greatly appreciated since I have no clue where to go from here (there).

I already contacted Digitrax Tech support by e-mail but I suppose they are to busy at the moment, getting moved to their new location.

Once I had a problem programming a Tsu-heavy steam, one person on the Soundtraxx forum ,suggested using JMRI with a PR3, told him, I wasn't going to keep awake cause of a software or hardware problem and that the programmer I am (was) using would do fine, lol, well, I am pretty sure it is going to be a very long coffé night drinking week-end trying to get through this " Houston we have a problem " thingy.....ARGHHHHHHHHH, lol. And with the 15th of August beeing a holliday here.........that's one thermos extra, lol.

Thanks in advance.......................

Sounds like a hardware problem ...

I think your best bet is Digitrax ... did you also post your issue on the Digitrax Yahoo User forum?

If anybody knows some secret technique of holding your mouth right on the PR3 in order to get it to work, they should know.

Houston, we have contact.......(blip)

Good news,

The solution was handed on a plate to me, just by the time watching 10.000BC (great movie btw). So once again proove that the net is making this world a small place.

I just finnished reading out a QSI decoder with the PR3 using decoder pro.....thanks to the yahoo Digitrax group where Mr. Rose whent straight to the problem pointing me out a mismatch in the port settings. (blushing here, cause I should have checked that also)

So I guess I will have a peacefull long week-end afther all.....wouhouuuuuu.

Thanks Mr. Fugate pointing me out the yahoo Digitrax group.

Ok my friends, hitting the sack with a bigg smile on my face.

Excellent!

Jappe, that's great news!

The joke at the National in the DCC clinics was if you have a DCC problem: go post on the Yahoo DCC forums ... within a short time you will have several answers to your problem - and within a day you'll have the right answer! < VBG>
