I know that content is driven by submissions, but I figure it can't hurt to throw this out there.  One of my favorite features of any railroad publication has always been scale drawings.  At least one magazine even goes to the trouble of listing each drawing in the table of contents, whether it's part of an article or not.  Maybe it's just because I like to build my own models, and for that you really need drawings, but I'd love to see a random (or not so random, I don't care!) drawing in each issue of MRH.

Is anyone else interested?  Or am I just alone and crazy, as usual?

We will consider them if we get submissions

We will consider scale drawings, but we need to get submissions. We did get some scale drawing submissions, even from some names, but they were of obscure structures that we didn't feel would be worth the expense of purchasing the drawing.

For our digital medium, we consider vector graphics to be best, and something like SketchUp where you can spin the rendering in 3D is ideal.

We've got a few SketchUp submissions we will be doing, but we'd love more! (Hint Hint)

To a large degree, we can't publish submissions we don't ever get. To all the topic areas you'd love to see more of, we generally aren't publishing it because we don't get it.

That's like the Traction layout design we received. It didn't win in across-the-board score and traction is a specialized interest catering to a limited audience. Regardless of the scoring, we pulled the submission out for an honorable mention, which also puts it in the queue to be published.

We'd like more so called "limited interest" topics, please. Our use of the term "limited interest" is not intended to be judgmental, only to acknowledge the fact it's not mainstream. We want to publish non-mainstream topics, if we can get them. Only doing mainstream topics is formula publishing, and we're not into that.

scale drawings

Thats a great idea. The scale drawings of structures in NGSL gazette are the #1 reason why I save every issue of it (NGSL is the only magazine i save).

I'd like to see drawings too

There has been some discussion here:  https://forum.mrhmag.com/post/union-pacific-technical-drawings-12187253 on drawings.
