To All: This is a recent wide angle shot of Dave Capron's HO Scale Great Lakes Northern RR in Suttons Bay, Michigan. This layout has two levels and in some places three levels. It is controlled by a dispatcher and the operators use hand held Digitrax DCC controllers. There is a phone system for use in operation and the layout can support 18 crew members. What you see in the photo is only about 1/4 of the layout. It's overall size is 32 feet by 64 feet. On the lower level on the right is Cincy Yard with the coal branch above it. I built all the kit bashed backdrop building at Cincy Yard a well as the large round house out of the pix to the right. In the background ,upper level, straight back is Williamson Yard with the coal cleaning facility. On the lower left in the foreground, is a 4 foot high curved trestle that for many years was featured at the yearly Traverse City Festival of Trains. In the left background on the lower level is a huge grain elevator complex I built. It takes 32 empties in and 32 fulls out!. To the left of that is the Chillcothe Chemical Complex and on the third level above that is the logging branch. The main emphasis of the layout is coal trains, but passenger trains, manifest trains and way freights are also represented. There is also a long reefer train that is run. There is also a major emphasis on iron ore teconite trains. He has an iron ore boat and ore docks I built for the layout.Other trains are run but I do not recall what they are. I also built an oil refinery, stock yards, a bridge,a teconite plant and numerous other structures for the layout. Yours, Elvin Howland/E. St. Louis Rail Group Layout

yikes!

And I thought my 1100 sqft layout was too big for a privately owned layout!

And it's neat. I can't seem to de-clutter mine?

Got any more fotos?

Panorama using Microsoft Photosynth

Great Photo,

If you would like to make a panorama check out Microsoft Photosynth Panorama software . It would work out great for a view like this. You can pan and zoom. I made this shot with about eight Hi Def photos from my Nikon D90. I'm not so keen on the " Photosynth" part of it. Microsoft calls them "Synthy's" but I don't like the white lines around the stitched photos. If you want to see what I  mean you need to visit the Photosynth site.

Really easy software to use and its free.
