Hello all. modeling has ground down to a snails pace. I have had trouble with engines and getting them fixed. I also have been learning how to put lights into building as I have had 3 projects going at one time.

One of my projects is a 3ft long Ice platform (Tichy Train group Highly recommended). Decided to run some model power wire down the center of it. But I did not like the result (looks), so I removed them. I saw a post where someone had used brass wire or rod to provide power to the lights. Great idea. It would really help me I could run the wire straight down the rafters and it would look great. Hang the lights from the wires and viola.

What size wire should be used?

Should it be copper, brass or piano wire?

Where can I get the wire?

Have you done this or can you provide a link?

Ect.

As always thank you for the help.

Wiring Options

Jim,

I have used brass wire, bronze wire, magnet wire, small diameter welding rod and even conductive paint to add electrical power to my structure kits depending on the size of the structure or detail and the need for independent support of the lighting.  Brass and bronze wires can be used to represent piping and/or railings.  Small diameter magnet wire resembles wire conduit in HO scale.  I like to use conductive paint when even magnet wire is too large or where soldering would damage the plastic parts.  I have used small diameter welding rod to create a freestanding overhead lighting system inside a large factory building.

Thanks I have some stranded

Thanks I have some stranded bus wire that I will strip and layout. I like the idea of conductive paint. I did not think of that. Would Neo Lube also work?
