I have been waiting....

Division Point 4-8-4 sounds pretty darn tempting as well....In Sp of course. Would'nt mind getting WP GS-64s but the GS-6 is just as cool if not cooler for me.

I have been waiting for those wagon top boxcars to be released. They look hot and I am glad they come with Tichy details. I love Tichy Train Group they have GREAT tooling. They happen to have free shipping on orders over $25 and free shipping+20% off orders over $50 dollars atm on their website http://www.TichyTrainGroup.com right now. Not sure how long it lasts. I'm not employed by them but I tell you this because I recomend their kits.

Classic Metal Works Trailways Luxery Liners look really nice too.

Some good news for me this months =) Thanks again MRH

Tichy - and MRH

I ordered from Tichy the last time they had the 20% off special; that was a good deal  They have great products; precise tooling.  I did suggest to them that they advertise with MRH, but that was last winter; so if you contact them, remind them of the efficacy of advertising on MRH.

Nice fast (10 seconds) Clean click and select download

I realize that the news letter is no where near the size of the MRH Magazine but it took me longer to find the news letter on my computer than it took to read. You had the news letter ready click, select which type PC-Mac select down load.  I just didn't send it the my MRH file which I have for News letters, Movies and the Magazine. Then I realized I had it set to download to desk top after which I cut and pasted it in the proper file before I opened & read it. First I am very pleased to hear that Sylvan Scale Model is Producing 1938 plymoth Coupe both 2 & 4 door Sedans and 1941-47 GMC Truck line comming as I have been searching for both these era modelsin HO to fit my 1930-1950 eara Rio Grande Southern.

Nice News Letter Guys and Girls.

You did click the download button, above, did you not?

And you selected an option and clicked download ... and waited for the download completed response?

And then ... ?

Download button is AWOL

No I didn't click a download button. There isn't any. In place of a download button I only have a blue field. After reading your comment, I started clicking in the feild and then the down load started.

PS: the field extends across about 7/8 of the page. Only the top right quarter is hot.

Too soon

Sad to hear of Russ Simpson's passing.  Gee, only 63.

From the mid-1960s to early 1970s Russ made me bunches of custom-built HOn3 turnouts.  They were precision-made.  He even came by my home to make a delivery of turnouts (he was located in nearby Oakland then), curious what kind of "empire" was being created.  Then it was my 5-by-10 donut-shaped, double-deck layout.

Download Problems

Joe,

Don't take away the Legacy Download page.  Since you went to the one click download, I have not been able to download your magazine or newsletters that way.  I see the download button but when I click it, nothing happens.  I am using a PC with Vista, IE 8, and Flash version 10.  I wonder if I have a security setting somewhere that stopping the process.

I love the magazine and newsletters.  Keep up the good work.

Legacy download will remain

Not to worry, as long as 1 person might benefit from the Legacy download option it will remain.

In practical terms, you can pretty much assume that's "forever".

Downloader doesn't start...

Mike,

If you'd bear with me a bit perhaps we can figure out what's going on (or not going on).  First, I want to confirm which "Download" button you're referring to. Is it the one on the MRH website 'download this magazine page' or the one in the flash downloader window?

Do you ever get to the point where you see this dialog box (or one similar to it) appear?

If you see this and click the "Download!" button how long are you waiting for something to happen?

Best regards,

Charlie Comstock

That is the download button I was talking about

Hey Charlie,

Yes, that is the screen I am getting to and that is the download button I am referring to.  I click the button and nothing happens.  I just tried it again, waited for 5 minutes and nothing happened.

My browser status bar is telling me that no items are being blocked on this page.

Thanks,

Mike

Try this ...

Mike:

Sometimes Vista, IE8 and Flash get into a goofy state. Here's a couple things to try:

Click on Tools then Internet options then the Advanced tab then go to Reset in "Reset Internet Explorer settings". Click the Reset tab and follow the prompts.

After doing this, then close down the browser, reboot, open up a fresh browser window, and see it it works any better.

If not, then we might have gotten into your restricted site list somehow. To check that:

Open Internet Options and click Security.
Click on Restricted sites, the red circle with the bar thru it,
click on Sites button,
scroll thru list to see if the MRH site is listed,
if it is, highlight it and click Remove. This will remove the MRH site from the restricted list.

Also, just for the record, Flash doesn't work on 64-bit Vista, at least not yet. You wouldn't be on 64-bit Vista, would you?

If all else fails, uninstall and reinstall Flash as described here (scroll down to the Flash 9+ section)

Download window

Good! Now we know a bit more.

Joe gave you lot's of suggestions but let me ask a quick question - is the background of the window the dialog box appears in the pale green color or a pale blue color?

Also, in the lower left corner of the downloader window you should see a revision number. Is it there?

If you have a blue background or no revision number you need to kill your history to get the latest version of the downloader window.

The new, versioned with green background has some timers built into it so if there is a problem getting a download started you should get a pop-up window telling you that it timed out. This should happen within 20 seconds after clicking the Download! button.

The fact that you got to the downloader window indicates that Flash is running at least to some degree on your computer or you'd have a blank window.

Sorry for the inconvienience!

You can't run 64 bit IE8

Don't run 64 bit IE8 or you will be toast. Flash doesn't work with it yet.

OK - It Works

Thanks Joe and Charlie.  I uninstalled Flash and then re-installed.  Now it works.

Thanks again for all your help.  I am looking forward to the next issue.
